Critics say the Religious Freedom Restoration Act legalizes discrimination

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signed a bill into law Thursday that allows business owners to deny same-sex couples service on religious grounds, then quickly defended it. Within hours, Star Trek actor and LGBT activist George Takei took his outrage to Twitter using the hashtag #BoycottIndiana, which began trending.

Democratic lawmakers, LGBT rights activists and civil liberties groups have argued that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act legalizes discrimination.

If he boycotted Indiana, would anyone in the state notice or care?

I read he's been invited by the Indy 500 to sing 'Back homo again in Indiana'.

(I'm here all week!)

Further proof they don’t give a damn about the Constitution, freedoms, religion, tolerance or freedom of assocation/choice. They want to force their view of everything on everyone, no matter how wrong or hypocritical.

It was a mistake to ever pass “gay rights” in the first place. A lifestyle choice is something they should have to live with. Leave the rest of us out of it.

I'm guessing that Indiana has maybe 2 or 3 million people between the ages of 15 and 100. Taking the low figure, assume that 2 million people engage in an average of 100 business transactions a year, for a total of 200 million transactions a year. How many will be affected by this law? 50? 100? 200? 500? Probably no more than that.

There will be a few Christian bakers/photographers/florists who will decline to service gay marriages, and there MIGHT be a handful of bed-and-breakfast owners who refuse service to gays. Apart from that, who will refuse service to gays? So this law will have an almost invisible impact on society. And yet opponents act as if the sky is falling.

As a result of this law, who will refuse service to gays?

Public utilities? No.
Banks? No.
Grocery stores? No.
Gas stations? No.
Insurance companies? No.
Major hotels? No.
Restaurants? No.
Plumbers? No.
Electricians? No.
Auto repair companies? No.
Accountants? No.
Florists/Photographers/Bakers? Very few.
Bed-and-breakfast owners? Maybe a couple.
Realtors? Maybe one or two.
National chains in any field of business? No.

So the real-life impact of this law on gays will be almost negligible. Preserving the right of religious conscience is a reasonable trade off for a NEGLIGIBLE impact on gays.

Christian and Jewish photographers and wedding cake makers should be forced to vend for gay weddings when Muslims are, or when blacks are forced to vend for KKK rallies.

Simple.

In the meantime, until Muslims and blacks are forced to vend for events over their conscientious and religious objections, Christians and Jews shouldn’t have to, either.

Good. If leftists boycotted Red States that would allow all those on the Right to prosper and not be annoyed by leftists!

If this bill is as bad as the opponents say, the courts will be brought in to fix it in favor of the “fascists”.

In the face of the SC decision this summer to legalize gay marriage, the GOP politicians have to do something to mollify religious conservatives.

Last year apparently similar legislation was vetoed by Republican Governor Jan Brewer when John McCain and Mitt Romney condemned it. There were stories of business pressure on AZ to veto the bill as well.

I don’t think it’s as bad as the homofascists claim. The bill to shoot homosexuals in California will be overturned, if it passes, but I doubt they’ll be able to “fix” it for the Gaystapo.

The problem with the forces legalizing gay marriage is that they won’t be happy until all institutions, including churches, conform to their standards regarding sexuality and marriage.

Their aims are totalitarian and violate the First Amendment.

Democratic lawmakers, LGBT rights activists and civil liberties groups have argued that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act legalizes discrimination

Have you argued that about the 1993 Act that Bill Clintion signed into law? The FEDERAL Religious freedom Restoration Act?
No? Thought not you bunch of hypocrites!

For those wanting to support Indiana-made products, the best ideas come from the boycott lists from the libs themselves. This from the Daily Kos:

Clabber Girl Baking Powder
Nestle: Nesquik, CoffeeMate, Boost
Red Gold canned tomato products
Bar Keepers Friend
Vera Bradley
Eli Lilly
