Listen to the audio. If the cop told the dumb drunk punk once, he told him several dozen times to “stop”, “stop resisting”, and “I’m going to shoot you”.

Now while no dumb, drunk punk should have to pay with his life for being a dumb, drunk punk (DDP), I think this DDP had plenty of second, third, ... 20th chances.

The fact that the dead guy was a confirmed drunk driver doesn't make me too upset about the outcome - the dead guy clearly didn't care about anyone else's life.

The inability of the officer to identify his location is weird, though.

Ten years ago I was involved in an incident with a person (paroled violent convict) who ran into my car and another person's car. He was driving a stolen car when he rammed into me and the other person. Then after that stolen car was disabled, he stole another one and led local police on a long car chase.

After he overturned his car in a cornfield, he staggered out with a knife in his hand. He then saw four police officers pointing their guns at him telling him repeatedly to put the knife down and surrender. This was recorded on tape. The moron decided it was a good idea to charge the cops. He ended up severely ventilated and quite dead.

Cops don't know what weapons some people might have on them. A charging person might knock a cop down and then pull out a knife and kill the cop. Or take the cop's gun and shoot him. It has happened.
