Obama's Mideast 'free fall'
Politico ^ | March 26, 2015 | By MICHAEL CROWLEY

Mounting chaos in the region puts the administration on the defensive.

Barack Obama faces a slew of Middle East crises that some call the worst in a generation, as new chaos from Yemen to Iraq — along with deteriorating U.S.-Israeli relations — is confounding the president’s efforts to stabilize the region and strike a nuclear deal with Iran. The meltdown has Obama officials defending their management of a region that some call impossible to control, even as critics say U.S. policies there are partly to blame for the spreading anarchy.

“If there’s one lesson this administration has learned, from President Obama’s 2009 Cairo speech through the Arab Spring, it’s that when it comes to this region, nothing happens in a linear way — and precious little is actually about us, which is a hard reality to accept,” said a senior State Department official.

Not everyone is so forgiving. “We’re in a [expletive] free fall here,” said James Jeffrey, who served as Obama’s ambassador to Iraq and was a top national security aide in the George W. Bush White House.

For years, members of the Obama team has grappled with the chaotic aftermath of the Arab Spring. But of late they have been repeatedly caught off-guard, raising new questions about America’s ability to manage the dangerous region.

Obama officials were surprised earlier this month, for instance, when the Iraqi government joined with Iranian-backed militias to mount a sudden offensive aimed at freeing the city of Tikrit from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant. Nor did they foresee the swift rise of the Iranian-backed rebels who toppled Yemen’s U.S.-friendly government and disrupted a crucial U.S. counterterrorism mission against Al Qaeda there...

Seriously, I’m as scared of Obama’s “stability” as I would be the pilot of a German Airline.

I think all this is getting to be waaayyy too much for him and his gaggle of complete idiots. I once again see resignation increasingly as his only option.

Don’t be ridiculous. He won the Nobel Peace Prize! /s

******

If we have learned anything about President Obama over these past 6 years it is that there is nothing NOBLE about this incompetent idiot.

The Noble Peace Prize: Can anyone think of anything so tragic and laughable in the history of man as when the Noble Prize was given to a person, Obama, who had not yet done anything? Laughable.

“Did the American voters lose their minds?”

Guess we have to wait until one or more of our cities are nuked before voters figure out that this is what you get when you elect libs.

Even then, I don’t think many will understand. Most people are now full blown idiots and very dysfunctional.

Did the American voters lose their minds?

You have to say that the American voters are led by the nose, mesmerised by projected chimeras ... or something.

How about giving a Peace Prize to to someone who HAS done what Obama has done?

The Middle East is on fire. Between the Arab Spring, deliberately destabilizing Libya and Syria, allowing the atrocities of ISIS, enabling the expansion of Iranian militias throughout the region leading to the disintegration of Iraq and Yemen; Obama has initiated the biggest movement of refugees since WWII.

As another Freeper alluded, Obama should be getting the Nobel War Prize for what he has done.

I watch the MSM news regularly. They report the events in the ME as if they happen in a vaccuum, with no reference to Obama or Hillary policy. Of course the sheeple eat it up, think it was Bush fault, etc.

Seriously. What is this crap?

It's my theory that the left assumes the credibility of the offices they hold. Since they have no personal credibility, they must use up the instututional reserve credibility of whatever office they are in. This article is an example of the media enforcing the lie that since Obama is the President, he is AUTOMATICALLY working for the best interest of the nation as a whole. If you weren't a freeper, I would see your post as an example of someone who says, wait a minute...this guy is not actually doing any of those things... which would mean that the institutional reserve credibility is used up. When the average guy on the street says the same thing you just said, then we will know it's Ted Cruz time.

it’s not a free-fall when it’s deliberate. this is planned and desired to occur.

Americans - not all, but enough - were mesmerized into voting for our first Black president, not for his skills and experience, but because of the color of his skin. Obama is a hollow man.

And never forget Hillary’s roll in all this. The copresidency bombed Kosovo in the 1990’s, and then Hillary ran Obama’s state department during the Arab Spring.

Actually after three years the MSM was calling his foreign policy masterful and genuis. Only a few of us here tried to point out that it was all going to crap. Heck back then McCain thought the Arab Spring was genuis.

Well, here we are, at the full flower of folly, of the end result of the most ignorant, incompetent, ideology-driven pathetic excuse for leadership in foreign policy in the country's history, and what we are watching is the result of monumental arrogance and a narcissistic faith that the world would somehow shape itself into the fantasies of the ignorant. Naturally, since that didn't happen, it is the world's fault.

It was never going to be good. From the outset, a fool styled "the smartest man in the room" by people whose experience of rooms is limited to freshman dormitories in rich-kid diploma farms, decided that despite a massive lacuna in experience, he could award the guidance of U.S. foreign policy first to a political prostitute and then to an unapologetic traitor to his country. These meddled with political currents they did not understand, ruining virtually everything they touched, secure in the massive self-deception that it was "change" and therefore inherently good. These actions ran the gamut from airborne assassination to the deliberate betrayal of former allies to the open support of people whose deepest desire is for the United States to burn.

The result is entirely predictable - bloody, apocalyptic failure while their designated spokesman smirks that yes, everything is going according to plan, and won't the little people please shut up? For those who do love the country it is a shame and an embarrassment. For those who do not, there is a sinecure within the current administration and a handsome reward garnered from corruption and betrayal. No decent human being would have anything to do with this stinking cesspool of futility, and no decent human being has.

Isn’t there an adult that could do something?

Reports are the Iran deal is a fait accompli. Obama wanted a deal so badly he caved on Iranian demands. 1) nobody knows what work they have done to date, so there is no way in the future to see if they have progressed 2) they can keep inspectors out anyway and 3) they can continue to run centrifuges in hidden bunkers and 4) we lift the sanctions before any of this goes into effect. Not sure if this is really the deal but its been reported, and somehow this deal is better than no deal? Not sure why - not like Iran is going to be a stabilizing force in the region which was the ostensible reason for it. They can’t make that claim with a straight face. So what do we get from it? We get weaker, we get laughed at, we make our allies quiver in the knees and not like Chris Matthews. I guess that is what he wants to make America just like any other nation.

It all could have been avoided if he’d just kept his “crossing the red line” pledge.
