No, the answer more likely lies in what Lubitz says just before impact. That aircraft did not hit the ground in a descent. It was pitched down in a vertical dive into the ground. That is what the debris field looks like.

My guess is there is something said just before that, that we will never be told. Something that starts with the name of the Arabian moon-god. If the head of the CIA and the POTUS can be a muzzie, why can’t a 28 year old German be?

The only question I have now is why he didn't put the plane into a nose dive instead of this 18 minute glide down.
