PARIS As officials struggled Wednesday to explain why a jet with 150 people on board crashed in relatively clear skies, an investigator said evidence from a cockpit voice recorder indicated one pilot left the cockpit before the planes descent and was unable to get back in.

Yeah, well, it’s still not terrorism or anything like that because the US government said it wasn’t terrorism right after it happened. So there. /s
I don't think they'd put a key in their pockets as the bad guys would then have access to the locked door. Overpower him etc..
Hard to believe 150 on board and no one outside the flight deck had communication with the outside world..
What about Ethiopian Airlines Flight 702 last year?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethiopian_Airlines_Flight_702
One pilot locked the other pilot out and flew to Switzerland because he wanted asylum. Remembering this and reading about this latest incident says terrorism and/or suicide to me.
Hopefully we will get more info as time goes on.
The crew inside the cockpit can override someone trying to get in the cockpit. They just showed it on CNN. The switch is usually on “Normal” meaning that the pilot can leave the cockpit and would be able to get back into the cockpit via the code keyed into the keypad, even if the other pilot was in distress. Anyone with the keycode could get it. If the switch is moved to “Lock” the pilot inside the cockpit has the ability to disable the keypad and lock the the other pilot out. It would have to be a deliberate act to do so.
Sounds like terrorism, not a medical situation.
Fowl play only happens during takeoff when birds get sucked into the engines. Perhaps the pilot in the cockpit had fish.
Perhaps the pilot was a muzzie and decided it was time to pray - for westerners to die.
Here is a video about the Airbus door

If the locked door is keeping terrorists out, maybe their only option is inside the cockpit
Many airlines have reinforced cockpit doors since 9/11. Perhaps some quickly accessible equipment (locked, with key possessed by trusted crew) capable of breaching such armored doors should be available.
Well, I’d like to know what the door locking mechanisms are all about. Which I’m confident they’re not real excited about putting all those details out there.
I smell the stench of islam. Bammy will of course continue to say there is no evidence of jihadicide.
Maybe it was more of an opportunistic thing, rather than a well-thought plan.
“I fly all the time and this really is not all that unusual, even shortly after take off, once reaching cruise altitude.”
What happens when a plane reaches cruising altitude? The fasten seatbelt sign comes off and every one relaxes and/or gets up to take a wizz. Perfect time for a Pilot to do the same. Doesn’t mean anything, but attentive Pilotcide death wishers know this and Muzzies wanting to rush the cockpit adoor when it opens as well. In this case If a flight attendant did not come into the cockpit as is required in the USA to relive the Pilot that left to wizz, it had to be Pilotcide.
Any idea why we know the identity of everyone else on the plane except the pilots?
And why not give little things called “keys” to those who might need to run to the john during a long flight, just in case.
An idiot Would know to pull back on the yoke and add power....
The bad guys might overpower the pilot and obtain access to the flight deck?
Makes sense to me.
Outside keypad for access and inside deadbolt for emergency?
Looks like I could override that with just a rubber band.
