I was trying to figure out what PAY was but didn’t want everyone to think I was ignorant so didn’t say anything.
On my Spring Break I was doing Civil War reenactments with the StoneWall Brigade and Long Streets Corps but there was some pretty fine looking girls at the dances.

It looked like that 30 years ago when I went on Spring Break.
No matter which group of friends I hung with, it seemed like everyone always expected me to make the party good. I was always the one walking around with just a bottle of coke in my hand.
Whether the end of the night, or the next morning, I was usually the ONLY one NOT at least a little drunk or hung over.
ONE TIME a buddy who always had good parties, had a party where I decided I was going to get "wound up". Chugged some watermelons, had a few Screwdrivers (heavy on the vodka, light on the oj).
I got smashed.
Ended up puking in the toilet, remembering Bill Cosby's skit about partying.
I remembered him talking about the nice cool toilet bowl, and I realized the tub was nice and cool. Fell asleep in the tub and woke up to pounding on the bathroom door. Somebody else was about to get sick and needed the toilet. Problem was, waking me up, the room started spinning again and I had to throw up again. Meanwhile, my friends brought some sick girl in, but my face was already in the toilet. So she puked in the tub...
That I was kneeling in as I puked in the toilet.
My friends ended up cleaning me up and putting me to bed.
I had a hangover for 2 days. NOT FUN!!!
My buddy and his wife said the party was no where near as fun, with me drunk.
That was the first...and last time I ever got drunk.
Even today, if I go out with the guys after work, I'll have one or maybe 2 beers, then I switch over to coke or pepsi. I work in construction, where testosterone is more of a competition than a biological condition. When the tough drinkers give me a hard time about drinking pop, I refuse to back down. They let up and we all have a good time.
I don't need alcohol for a good time. I'll hang with the guys and talk, joke and laugh. What I'm drinking is none of their concern.
After a couple of hours though, the conversation starts to get a little stupid and it's time for me to call it a night. EVERYBODY is a genius when they've had a few.
I was at a church singles' (30's) retreat one time. I had a girl tell me that it seemed wherever I was that weekend, that seemed to be where the fun was.
Like you said: "If one needs to be drunk to have a good time, that doesn’t say much about them."

Back in the 1960s, there were some trampy girls, but they were definitely in the minority. These days, the decent ones are in the minority.
