Even as a college student, I never saw the attraction of getting drunk. I could enjoy myself without resorting to alcohol or drugs. Even then, this kind of behavior seemed stupid to me. And I wasn’t even yet a Christian. That came later. I guess my parents did a good job raising me. Although my older sister did partying.

It's not all of them....my kid spent her break with 150 other college students picking up trash along the Mississippi.

I always felt the same way. If one needs to be drunk to have a good time, that doesn’t say much about them.
I got really blitzed one time in my life; on my 21st birthday. And I will never do that again.

We lived in Panama City around 6 years in the 1950s.
I can actually remember when it was called AEA week. That stood for Alabama Education Association week. All the Alabama teachers met for some reason. During that week the kids would come to PC. It just grew from that to kids all over the country but mostly South and Big Ten area schools.
I also remember when Ft. Lauderdale was the prime destination. Now it is Panama City.
I would never let my kid go to Spring Break. Fortunately mine did not even want to.

I heard some college girls say that all you need at spring break is your sunscreen and your birth control. Shows what some have in mind.

I fail to see a problem here. Healthy girls enjoying life.

etched in my memory are the purple stained white curtains colored by a girl barfing PJ from a second story window
In north Carolina we went to Wilmington for mass student celebration of the Azalea Festival
I have vague memories of drinking a whole case of beer in about a day and a half. for me, that was serious beer drinking. a Raleigh bar offered full cases of Fallstaff at a ridiculous Azalea Festival special price

Spring break has always struck me as something that you're told by the promoters and people who have gone that it's the best time of your life, and then you go and pretend very hard like it's the best time of your life ... but it turns out to be not even close to the best time of your life. In fact, very crass and cheap and boorish and you might come home with some unwelcome STDs.
No thanks.

I still live around 50 miles from PC. They show a bit of it every day on the local Panama City TV stations.
The Sheriff said the main trouble makers are the 100 milers. That is a term I had never heard before but it apparently means they come to PC with no rooms. They stay in their cars, parking lots etc.
I have noticed that some of the fights are clearly racial.

It’s hard enough for college grads to find a job..and these days..often the first thing major corporate employers do with prospective hires is to hire firms that check their social media posts..
