Since when are personal responsibility and knowledge “leftist”?

Since when are personal responsibility and knowledge “leftist”?

Well, let's start with this one...

Because I'm a Conservative, I care about personal responsibility. Too often, though, the term has been re-interpreted to mean "taking care of #1" when personal responsibility should also include ownership and accountability for what goes on around me. That means I have a responsibility to understand the plights of others, to recognize when and how I might contribute to such ills, and to do what I can to correct them, to create a fair and level playing field where everyone has the same chances given the same efforts.

That is inherently wrong. Time and again, it has been proven that when the government takes from the producers to give to the less fortunate, the less fortunate get very little, and most that is taken goes to the government. In other words, they steal in the name of the poor, but do not make the poor better, but rather themselves more powerful, as the poor continues in poverty.

What the poor need is not a stingy hand-out from a leviathan, bloated government, but rather a job.

Jobs come from the private sector. Tax the private sector less, regulate them less, restrict them less, and business will flourish. The poor will have a way out of poverty, and government receipts actually go up.

Liberals are like Mommies. They feel sorry for you, kiss your boo-boos, and give you money for candy. Their concern is the here and now, and want you to feel good. Conservatives are like Dads. They tell you when you do something stupid, pat you on the back when you do good, and encourage your self reliance. They care about your ultimate future, and want you to be good.

Personal responsibility ends at one’s own actions. It does not “include ownership and accountability for what goes on around me. That means I have a responsibility to understand the plights of others, to recognize when and how I might contribute to such ills, and to do what I can to correct them, to create a fair and level playing field where everyone has the same chances given the same efforts.”

The last clause in this portion of the diatribe is pure collectivism. How that can be conflated with conservatism is bizarre, illogical and frankly bullsquat. You will never create a level playing field because people are not “level” or equal. Some people are just unable to accomplish as much as others even with superior effort. There are many self-defeating people and you cannot change that.

You are responsible only for how your actions directly affect another. Period.

ok FRiend. i’ll answer assuming the question is honest.

“Too often, though, the term has been re-interpreted to mean “taking care of #1” when personal responsibility should also include ownership and accountability for what goes on around me.”

point by point analysis:

“taking ownership of what goes on around me” is anti-conservative because a conservative doesn’t believe in enforcing the slavery of his personal beliefs on others.

“accountablility for what goes on around me” is anti-conservative because a conservative believes that God is accoutable for the natural world, and each individual is accountable for his own actions. you are accountable for the actions of yourself and those whom God put’s you in charge of. period.

this, contrary to the article’s strawman, you are responsible under God, “for taking care of #1.” God says do you not realize that your body is the “temple of the Holy Spirit.” isn’t your soul and spirit a gift from God. isn’t your wife “one flesh” with you. and your children gifts from God as well. oh yes friend, your responsibilty and accountability for these things is your responsibilty to be a good steward and servant of God. failure results in very serious consequences. thus failure should not be an option.

well, i’ll analyze the false meme of “knowledge” if you still want more after this. suffice it to say, a conservative values truth, selfless love, virtue, honor and beauty. not the knowledge of men.

Since when is separation of church and state a conservative misreading of the Constitution?

Since when is celebrating two homosexuals being able to marry a conservative principle?

Since when do liberals care about responsible gun control? Gun control is all about denying the 2nd amendment rights and taking guns from responsible citizens to control the populous.

Since when is playing the race card conservative?

IBTZ!
