Sen. Ted Cruz plans to announce Monday that he will run for president of the United States, accelerating his already rapid three-year rise from a tea party insurgent in Texas into a divisive political force in Washington.
Cruz will launch a presidential bid outright rather than form an exploratory committee, said senior advisers with direct knowledge of his plans, who spoke on condition of anonymity because an official announcement had not been made yet. They say he is done exploring and is now ready to become the first Republican presidential candidate.

We have been waiting for a leader to lead us, for a man like Ronald Reagan. And now we have that leader, and his name is Ted Cruz. So, let’s first thank God for Ted Cruz and then let’s start sending him our financial support. United we stand, and divided we will fall. We must all be behind Ted Cruz. It’s Cruz or lose.

Waiting 4-8 years, how is conservatism supposed to survive and not become a political minority, long-term?
Well I didn’t think he’d announce this soon....but I do trust his timing. He has some great men with him and I don’t think Cruz would step out unless this was the most advantageous time to do so.
I will vote for Cruz if he wins this run. But even if he doesn’t I will support him because his presence alone among the candidates means what Americans need to know will be made known!
Furthermore...He will impact the other candidates running....they will have to tell the truth or he’ll call them out and expose them.
“For such a time as this”.....
May God truly mark his steps as he walks this walk...America has forgotten who we are....a nation under God and the Constitution. Cruz represents these two most important pillars this nation has stood on and for....they need to hear it! ..AGAIN!
Don’t underestimate this election cycle.....nor those being raised up.
We got Obama because our nation has fallen into a sewer and loves wallowing in it.....they need to see and hear the difference...AGAIN!
Additionally, those who vote in today’s world do not have the same mindset when Reagan ran...and I’m not speaking of just the youth. They care less about experience or Obama would have never won...twice no less! They are looking for someone with answers...who can articulate these in their “language”....
Wow. An astute strategy as well: lock up the conservative vote before anyone else emerges, then operate from a position of strength. Also glad he chose the Commonwealth as the venue to announce.
I AM BEHIND CRUZ. RINO’s quit now. WE’RE NOT VOTING FOR YOUR CANDIDATES!
Excellent news. For the record, I’m not a “Cruz or lose” guy. I’m a “solid conservative or lose even if we win” guy. Ted will work fine. There are a very few others I could also vote for as well. I’m not ready to put all of my eggs in one basket just yet. But I wish him well.
I can’t wait to see him debate Hitlery.
Good!
He will galvanize the evil into action. The “coasties”, (commies on the East and “Left” Coasts) will rise up in horror.
Even if Ted were to be in a debate moderated by leftists he would destroy the moderator. Have you ever seen his interviews with Candy Crowley? She saved Obama’s bacon vs. Mitt, but Ted just calmly explained the facts to her. He did the same recently to Mika.

Good. Bring it on.
Actually, George Washington was a member of the House of Burgesses for years, then as Commander in Chief he had to deal with Congress, so in reality he had plenty of good experience. Plus, as you state, being a statesman is about character, which George had in spades.
Awesome~!
After he is elected and if he really does the things that need to be done i will get excited.
Otherwise, he has my vote.
I think we could see those two on the same ticket...
I will donate more to him within the week - but will not adopt that slogan as my battle cry - it’s the same sort of thinking that gave us a second term of Obama.
And Cruz might just miss the nomination this time and be ready for ‘20 or ‘24. At minimum, I see him pounding Bush.
