President Obama, whose party was trounced in last year’s midterm election due to poor turnout among Democrats, endorsed the idea of mandatory voting Wednesday.
“It would be transformative if everybody voted,” Mr. Obama said during a town-hall event in Cleveland. “That would counteract [campaign] money more than anything. If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country.”
Mr. Obama raised the subject during a discussion of curbing the influence of campaign donations in U.S. elections. The president said he had never discussed the idea publicly before, but said Australia and some other countries have compulsory voting.

Watch for an Executive Order requiring welfare recipients and college students getting aid to produce proof of having voted in order to re-enroll in the programs.
The democrats would love to get the votes of the people normally too lazy or out of touch to care.

It doesn’t matter if they go to the voting booth or not. Their vote will still be recorded the desired way.

I would imagine the right to not vote is as important as the right to vote.

In statist countries that actually do this, what is the enforcement mechanism/penalty?
I believe dead Rats already vote.
My wife’s family, parents, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents have never voted in their lives. Pretty much none of them have. I think most of them would vote for Rats. This decree by the Emperor would insure the redistributionists would never be removed from office. It would eliminate the annoyance of the competitive race charade.
