At least 19 people have been killed in Tunisia after two gunmen stormed the Bardo national museum one of the countrys leading tourist attractions in the capital, Tunis sparking a three-hour hostage siege.
Tunisias prime minister, Habib Essid, said on Wednesday afternoon that 17 of the dead were foreigners from Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland calling the attack a cowardly assault targeting the economy.
Three hours after the attack started at about midday local time (11am GMT), an interior ministry spokesman said two gunmen had been killed, as well as one security officer, and that all hostages had been freed.
Polands foreign ministry said that three Poles were among the six wounded.
The Bardo, which includes one of the worlds largest collections of Roman mosaics, is one of the countrys biggest tourist attractions.

There are some states that I will not venture.
Shocked,
I figured it would most likely have been done by Christian or Mormon Dutch.
Those savage Dutch at it again.

More workplace violence by Amish and Celts?
It is sad.
Like it or not, the Islamic religion has blood on it’s hands.
It has been stirring up hatred against Israel and the West for many decades.
The Arab newspapers are vitriolic in their hatred. The people running the papers are what..., altogether now..., “Followers of Islam”.
You seem to have had good experiences of there. I think that’s interesting, because I honestly don’t know how.
I would think you’d be public enemy number one with the ideology so anti-Western.
Perhaps you can explain what your take on that is. Why were you safe, when seemingly you shouldn’t be?
You did mention the friendly people. If possible, perhaps you can explain their take on this dynamic. Honestly, it’s confusing to me.
A few years ago Tunis was a decent place to visit (so I’ve read). Since the Arab Spring (read Advance of the Caliphate), only the most naive, trust-fund, leftist with a ‘Coexist’ sticker on their SUV (Pajama Boy) would make that trek.
I would love to see the ancient skyscrapers of Sanaa, the narrow streets of Tunis, the great cities of Cairo, Casablanca, Istanbul, etc, but I won’t in this lifetime. Maybe during Christ’s Millennial reign.
Wow! I didn’t know anyone was still using Steyr AUGs.
Tunisia is not on NATO’s regime change list, or is it?
Really, Habib? The economy?
NO!
Infidels were targeted. Non-Muslims. Christians, Jews, Hindus, Bhuddists; any and all people who's beliefs do not include Mohammed.
Whether that causes problems for your economy or not, the purpose was to kill infidels, and your coreligionists succeeded.
This is a very big deal for them. Thousands will be attending the various events.
I LOVE Malta!! Especially cruising out at night with all the Jerusalem Stone walls and buildings lit up....MAGICAL!!
“Not quite sure how I feel about sleeper cell radicalized Islamic jihadists visiting my area as “tourists” with their freshly-minted Universal CCW credentials. ;-) “
So in your world, radicalized Islamic jihadis, would only bring a gun, if they had a permit? Fascinating take on this. Tell me more...
Yipes! The Bardo was on my tour list. Lots of stuff I’d love to see that I’m going to miss, because I’m not going anywhere I can’t be armed.
Oh, do stop talking rubbish.
I also love Malta.
