ixteen-year-olds can drive, work, pay taxes and be sentenced to life in prison. Now, some want the right to vote, too. On Tuesday, San Francisco Supervisor John Avalos will attempt to make that happen by introducing a measure that would extend the right to vote to 16- and 17-year-olds. Avalos and other supporters say it will encourage civic engagement among youths and instill in them lifelong voting habits at a time when turnout is low.

When I was 16 I was concerned with only two things: Girls and girls....................... When I was a Scout leader, the joke about getting Eagle was it must be done before 16 because when a boy hits that age, his entire life is controlled by his nose: gasoline and perfume.

His master plan? Becoming president then herding everyone over 21 into concentration camps to be fed LSD for the rest of their lives.

"...but nothing can stop the shape of things to come." God how long it's been since I watched that film, and it's the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread. First as tragedy, then as farce eh?

"Maybe it's time to move the voting age back to 21."I second that. Makes great sense to me, that if you have to be 21 to drink, and engage in other adult things like making contracts, voting should be no less responsible.
