My first car was a 1960 dodge dart. Poosh-a-button transmission and batmobile fins.

It was a big promotion around Easter time. They came out with a bunch of pastel colored Mustangs. My Mom wanted one. Dad bought a red Dodge Charger instead.

I’ve got old and new stuff.
A lot of folks forget about how fussy the old stuff can be as far as cold start driveability and such.

I learned to drive in a friend’s 1932 Ford Coupe and my first car was a 1949 Ford Two Door. Nostalgia can be fun.

OTOH.

They are still driving them in Havana.

I was driving in 1965 a coaster wagon. As I was to young to have a driver’s license, not even old enough to drive a tricycle or bicycle. Just thought I would share that!

I assume when things really open up between Cuba and the US a lot of those vehicles and the guys that work on them are heading to the USA.

Ive got a 67 E-Type Jag roadster...One of the top 3 or 4 prettiest cars ever produced. Needed a Brit mechanic on retainer, though, IIRC.

I hate Ralph Nader. My ex had a Corvair convertible which we drove through the New England states on our honeymoon.

I had a 1957 Ford Fairlane 400 that my dad gave me. As soon as I saved enough, I painted it pale metallic blue.
That was in Southern California, and I used to race it at Irwindale in the #4 money bracket.
My W-2 form listing my winnings from the raceway came addressed to Mr. S. [my last name], LOL!

What we were driving 50 years ago: Cars that were designed by automakers to fail earlier.
Japan changed all that by designing better and more reliable vehicles and OUR automakers had to follow suit FAST.

Our next door neighbor at the time sold his Sunbeam Alpine (Tiger?) and got a ‘65 Mustang convertible. My Dad’s VW was a ‘66 I think.
