I believe most waiters did not want this. Certainly NY waiters are dead set against it. Liberals they may be but suicidal they are not.
I would first ask those NY waiters for whom did they vote in 2008 and 2012. They don’t like it because they never reported a majority of the tips they received as income. Now they have to. They can thank Obama for that.
I think efforts such as this are aimed at currying favor with the semi-literate entry level McDonald’s employee who messes up your order and couldn’t give you correct change if the register didn’t do the calculation.
Absolutely! I worked my way through college as a waiter. I could cover my months rent in one weekend, just on the tips.
A very good friend of mine was a long time waitress in a Pizza Hut in Rock Hill. She said she did too well in tips and the hours suited her. She was a super nice people person who was my friend at a time when I didn’t have many and was really messed up in a lot of ways. She died unexpectedly a few years ago. RIP Janice.
I hate going anywhere with servers. I want to go to a counter and pick up my order. And walk over and get a refill whenever I want. Limits me to fast food, I know.
