The University of Oklahoma's renowned football team has suspended practice for a week in protest against a racist video linked to a fraternity and called for punishment of its leadership, team members said on Thursday.

"It is our passionately expressed desire as members of the football team for the leadership of SAE to be expelled, suspended or otherwise disciplined severely," a statement from the football team said, adding that leaders of the fraternity helped foster a culture of intolerance.

The football team, with the support of its coach, said it will hold a demonstration over the video during normal practice time on Thursday.

The university ... will create the post of vice president of diversity to help prevent another flare-up of racial tensions, the school said on Thursday.

Any people.
Previous generations of frat boys, just like the current batch are the ones that have been and are now in leadership and policy-setting roles of major corporations and government agencies, and we wonder where the animus against whites comes from? And no, I am not trying to excuse the bad behavior of black people.
It's past the time for stone-throwing. All sides of the racial division need to stop the finger pointing and have an honest discussion about race. But first, we need to rid ourselves of the racist demagogues who continue to fuel the fires of racial hatred and bigotry.
Okay, transfer them to Stillwater.
Oh, they meant the SAEs, didn’t they?
Good idea. So stop throwing them.
Apparently, even Free Republic is on the absurd “can’t say that word” PC wagon. I guess we all have to knuckle under and kowtow to the PC crowd. What utter stupidity.
That's all you've got, nothing constructive to say? That attitude is exactly what I'm talking about.
Pitiful.
It has been the standard as long as I have been here. I am sure there are boards where you can throw out any words you want to.
Do you hate black people in general because of the black on white crimes we all regularly read about?
C'mon. Its an easy question from a pitiful thinker.
Very dumb, but no surprise.
If they don't show up for practice the university should pull their scholarships.
Oh wait, the rules only apply to certain people.
"...or more generally, do you have it in you to hate people of another race because some of them say nasty things about your kind?"
I don't hate people at all. I hate the evil things they do to each other, like lying, stealing, and murder, but hate people?, No. It takes too much energy to hate.
The racial divide and its consequential acts of violence are perpetuated by gross ignorance which is stoked by race mongers. I had a tagline that used to read, "Nothing will change until lying becomes an expensive and dangerous undertaking."
Unfortunately we can only expect more of the same until Justice and the Rule of Law is once again established as the foundation of our country.
That episode was on last week on Verzion On demand they doing pc word marathon of whole week on South Park
In short you aren't willing to hold the black community at large to the same moral standard you have for yourself. Perhaps you do not believe they are capable.
This is the real problem.
The very foundation of our system holds that all are equal, in God's eyes and under the law. Our race problems will not resolve themselves until the black community (in general) is held to the same moral standard that is expected of everyone else.
Bob Stoops seems to have lost all control over the football team. If he’s unable or unwilling to take charge, he needs to find someone who will. Or step aside.
We Clemson fans will second that.
Yes. Yes we will.
There is no need for insults. I insist that blacks or any other colored or non-colored person be held to account for their actions. I don't see the need for acrimony towards any group just because they happen to be a different color.
Save your anger for those individuals and groups who have abused their positions of influence and power by creating this mess. That is where it will best serve everyone.
“I insist that blacks or any other colored or non-colored person be held to account for their actions.”
You’d be called a racist for that.
So be it.
