Is gun ownership falling? The answer is yes, at least if you believe a new General Social Survey (GSS) by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC). Supposedly, since the late 1970s, the percentage of homes with a gun has fallen from approximately 50 percent to 32 percent. “The number of Americans who live in a household with at least one gun is lower than it’s ever been,” reported Emily Swanson of the Associated Press.
Time magazine also points to a PEW Research survey that has done a couple much more limited surveys that suggest a similar drop in gun ownership over time.
But those claims are likely overblown.
Surely, gun control advocates such as GSS director Tom Smith view this decline as a good thing. In a 2003 book of mine, I quoted Smith as saying that the large drop in gun ownership would “make it easier for politicians to do the right thing on guns” and pass more restrictive regulations.
Other gun control advocates have mentioned to me that they hope that if people believe fewer people own guns, that may cause others to rethink their decision to own one themselves. It is part of the reason they dramatically exaggerate the risks of having guns in the home. . . .

Hell, I’m shooting with people I never would have guessed had a gun and theh have several and, and they’re nice guns.
Fellow I went to the range with last week had a custom AR, an XD and a .454 Casul.
I have taught 5 guys in the last 3 years proper handling, maintenance and makrsmanship.
They never owned a gun before and each person now has at least three, when they never had one before.
Most of us who have guns already feel comfortable witb the ones we have and are looking for more. But, we’re pretty specific about what we want and not in any particular hurry.
Mostly, we are after more ammo and we’ll get around to buying some more guns but, I think we’ll be compelled to nake another purchase for something that comes up because it’s special.
Last week I shot with a gal who had never owned a gun but wanted to practice with a variety of arms and get feedback from all of us on the line.
She’ll purchase an XD next week for her personal protection.
So, the statement that gun ownershil is down is a lie.
Oh, seems to me the lie can be dispelled by going through the DROS applications but, that’s suppose to be private anyway.
Methinks there are more people just saying no to probing polls like that.

If I were asking someone about whether or not they owned a gun and they replied with “none of your business,” or something like it, I’d assume they did. A better response would be a simple falsehood - “No!”

How much of a unified army are you going to collect? Plenty of people who advocate secession are really cowards who won’t really do :):&! Then there’s the real honest assessment of how many people talking conspiracies really believe their drivel, and how many are just entertainers about it. It’s not clear cut to anyone if you could get some unified army out of a bunch of people that disagree with the government, and who will actually stab you in the back after faking being on your side.
Over 100,000 CCW permits have been issued in Illinois in the last 12 months. There are two new gun manufacturers operating in Illinois in the last 12 months that I know of. Both make nothing but AR15 variants.
Both have backlogs.

Last week I caught an ARfiski, a DRAGOperch, a 1911basski, my limit of CroppieColts, a full box of 7.62-39 minnows still in the can, 3 Grandinski trout, 3006 grandiski minnows 147 grains each, also in their sealed tins. I snagged a MAduce monster fish but it got away.

Rebellion occurs when oppression reaches the point that rebellion is a viable and desirable alternative. It must be remembered when The Colonies rebelled against The Crown the rebels were a minority. As in all rebellions, a minority rebel and those that benefit from the rebellion stand like sheep at the side. The only time an entire populous stand with the rebels is when there very existence is in doubt.
Case in point are the Kurds of Iraq and Syria. If they lose they die.
I wish those that cherish our nation were faced with the same choice. Otherwise, they will be subjugated 1 inch at time over years. Hard tyranny was the way of Stalin. Slow soft tyranny is the way of the neo-communists also know as the far left liberals.
Once hard Stalinist tyranny wins in a flash or soft tyranny wins by slow progression the end is always the same. The end is iron glove and sword of obedience or the gallows.
