One threatening letter to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker promised to attack his wife and gut her like a deer. Another talked about killing his sons: I already follow them when they went to school.
Then there was the time the governors car was attacked by protesters who, as Walker recounts in his book, surrounded the car and began beating on the windows and rocking the vehicle.
....The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, which keeps a trademark on the Profile in Courage Award, would, alas, be unlikely to give it to Walker, even though his actions in Wisconsin surely fit the awards criteria of standing up for principles even in the face of pressure to bend from powerful interest groups.
.....A JFK Profile in Courage Award for Walker might actually be a good fit.
.....In an April 4, 1957, speech to the Lynchburg, Va., Chamber of Commerce, Sen. Kennedy warned that Labor racketeers are using their positions with a union to practice extortion, shakedowns and bribery;threatening strikes, labor trouble, physical violence or property damage to employers who fail to give them under-the-table payments, personal gifts,or other contributions which the union members never see.
Robert Kennedy famously took on the Teamsters Union as counsel to a Senate committee investigating labor corruption.
Alas, mainstream liberalism of the sort that used to embrace Kennedys willingness to take on the excesses of organized labor now seems to have lost interest. Theres no better example of this decline than the New Yorker magazine.
That magazine helped launch Kennedys political career by publishing John Herseys account of the PT-109 shipwreck, under the headline Survival, in its June 17, 1944, issue.
The New Yorker recently wrote about Gov. Walker in an article that began, let's stipulate up front that Scott Walker, the governor of Wisconsin, is an odious politician whose ascension to the presidency would be a disaster....

Walker asked them not to.
Now that he's running for President, he has bigger fish to fry.
Good grief, he signs this great piece of legislation, and you speak as if he was against it. Had he been against it he would have vetoed it and never let is seen the light of day again.
And yet, during his term, the Unions have been handed setback after setback.
Meanwhile, all of Ted Cruz’s windmills are still standing.
I think he did not support the RTWL until now because he had other legislation to get passed. If he tied a Right to Work Law with his attempts to reign in public sector unions, he might have failed at both.
President Reagan, had a simple strategy, pick one or two big issues at a time. Governor Walker has done the same.
Yes! You are so right. That is why the Unions in Wisconsin are such big backers and fans of Walkers. Always holding rallies and demonstrations for him. They just love him to pieces./s
He also allowed the legislature to take the lead on RTWL on the advice of legislative leadership, which is something the anti-Walker forces on FR choose to ignore. Politics is as much about tactics and strategy as it is about making speeches and tossing raw meat to the base, and Scott Walker has proven to be an exceptionally good political tactician.
A lot of political capital had been spent on the previous fight...doing too much, too fast can damage the overall momentum. After winning again and with a larger majority in the legislature, there was more political capital to spend.
Barf at your lies and deceptions. Oh well when Cruz gets one thing done then I will respect that dumb reply you gave.
Walker Says Legislature Shouldn't Focus On Right-To-Work Bill Next Session

Scott Walker needs to formally declare his candidacy so he can get Secret Service protection.
Don't they belong to a union?
Walker has achieved proven results in a very hostile atmosphere. Does he walk on water? is he perfect? Nope. The left is worried about him and that tells a lot about how effective he might be in a campaign. I like both Walker and Cruz we need to get one of these guys elected (or maybe both?).
Yes.
He was against doing it at that time. He didn’t want more controversy as his campaign ramped up.
He said he wished they wouldn’t bring it up, but if they passed it, he’d sign it.
So yes, he was not wanting them to do it now.
There is no better time to do it with an overwhelmingly strong assembly and a couple seat majority in the senate. ANd he says he doesn’t want this being done at that time.
So that is the honest assessment of what happened. He did sign it like he said, and I am glad he did. But the backstory is the backstory and I am not sugarcoating it for anyone.
we have to be honest about what goes on with our people. Warts and all. I still like him, I can understand why he thins that was the right move, but I am not a shill or running cover for anyone.
Your post is misleading... if you actually read the article you can see he wasn’t against right-to-work, he just thought it was a greater priority during this session to focus on “reforming taxes, education, regulations and entitlements.”
Post 17 is a more honest reply to Walker’s support and position: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3265987/posts?page=17#17
And why is mine less honest?
Just because he does it AFTER his election for governor doesn't mean he didn't want to do it, or didn't think it was right. That he signed it tells you he thought it was the right thing to do.
He did a good thing, there's no reason to pretend he didn't.
