I could see Barry wanting to cripple Hillary's campaign in order to give Michelle a shot.
I could see Barry preferring a Republican President to Hillary. The Republican would be leery of going after Barry and his Chicago buddies after the election. Hillary, on the other hand, would suffer little blowback from purging the Chicago people and having her new Attorney General go after them.
