Privacy seems like such a quaint 20th Century concept, doesnt it? Unbox Therapy has posted a video of the CX-10 Mini Drone, which is described as the worlds smallest drone and is a definite harbinger of things to come. In other words, it looks like privacy is finally toast.
The good news with this particular drone is that Unbox Therapy says youll have to fly it indoors since its so small and light that a good gust of wind could blow it down. This means that you cant use it to secretly peep on into your neighbors window, for instance, or to trail someone while theyre walking outside.
All the same: At least with standard-sized drones theres no way to miss them. If youre being trailed by one or if one is hovering outside your window, theres a decent chance youll see it. But as they get smaller and quieter as technology improves, theyll be much harder to detect and will open up the door for every amateur NSA agent in your neighborhood to keep an eye on everything.
At any rate, Unbox Therapys video of of the CX-10 Mini Drone is very entertaining and you should check it out below.

The guy in the vid said ~$30-40.
Think falconry.
30 bucks
Or do we all live in the country now and forget our urban 'roots' ?

No camera. No privacy invasion. Unless, as already mentioned, buzzing cats applies.
I wish I had money for a serious drone with a camera for overhead shots in the countryside.
Saw in vid the cost...
Thnx!
Doesn’t look like it is very controllable. I want to see one with much better flight and hover characteristics.
Looks like it might be a Cheeson quad. Same model number, CX10. They are cool but very difficult to fly if you are a noob.
I have a slightly bigger Hubsan that comes with a camera already built in and replaceable batter. Cost me ~$30 on Ebay IIRC. It is also difficult to fly indoors.
My youngest son has a SYMA X5C-! which is bigger still but VERY easy to fly. It also comes standard with a camera and the controller is much better.
Here is a video of his first outdoor flight taken form the quad.

This video is his first flight but the view is from our balcony so you can see how high the quad went.

Yah, I didn’t hear anything about a camera in the vid. Technology will miniaturize a video camera down to grain of sand size in no time, if not already done.
There are fundamental trade offs that limit the degree to which a camera can be miniaturized; these limitations are imposed by the wave nature of light.
A camera the size of a grain of sand wouldn’t have very much resolution.
Cool. Looked like a nice calm day and well done first flight.
:o)
The controls are like squeezing a trigger ... you don't really push or pull, rather ... kind of squeeze ... the stick(s)
For ME ... they need to move more quickly than slowly ... like in the video .... you can get the thing to hover and all that, but a sneak up on 'em maneuver is probably impossible .... they just like to go fast and quick
If anyone masters these smaller machines ... uncle sam wants to talk to you
