True, Costco keeps me in instant, 4lb at a time.
I go through a couple of pints a day.

“They really should make the entire K-cup cartridge entirely bio-degradable.”

Costco makes a bio-degradable ‘bag’ that fits the K-Cup receiver. Not a K-cup so I think they don’t have to pay royalties. Box of 80 about $24 and it is very good.

As a hobby bean roaster, I don't think you can brew a better cup than you can using a simple coffee press.

Tomorrow I'm trying a batch of Greek style coffee ground to powder and boiled.

We'll see how I feel when I land.

As far as automatic coffee or espresso, Nespresso is the best you can buy, the other stuff is watery crap.

At the time the White Europeans came over, they weren't eating three meals a day either. That is a fairly modern invention. Breakfast, lunch and dinner: Have we always eaten them?

They are only getting .33 ounces of coffee per per cup? I think they are doing it wrong.

Folger's must be doing something right if people are buying K-Cups that are more expensive than a can of coffee.

Yes, I knew that, despite the poorly worded article.

High Blood Pressure on the fast track.

But wait, the Correctness Police have now issued an interim Guidance and Opinion, that drinking coffee is good for you, and that moreover stress is good for you, too.

Could have been written by some productivity gnomes over at American Enterprise Institute. "More work!" "Don't retire!" "Work harder, we don't have enough workers!" And so on.

Yes, Be Good Little Proles and produce tax revenue for the Glorious State!

Need some good Socialist Reality posters to motivate this...

More caffeine, Comrades!

Remember what David Horowitz said..... "It all comes together at the top!" All those rich super-liberals and hard-left Fabius funders among the Fortune 500.

Yes, yes, work harder for our Masters of the Universe, and our 500 Families! "Shakin' it over here, Boss!"

Something I discovered semi-accidentally about coffee grounds is that they make great mulch/pick-me-up for sulking plants.

I had an office India-rubber plant (a member of the fig-tree family, used as an indoor/outdoor ornamental). It was getting plenty of sun and water in my glass-laden office, but it was puny and puling and shedding leaves like crazy. The plant lady (the plants were all rented/leased) had just about given up on it when I diluted about 1/16th of a pot of tarry, end-of-the-line decaf coffee sitting cold in a pot on a sidebar, gave it about a half-pot of cold water, swilled it around a bit, and gave it to the moribund India-rubber plant.

The response was almost immediate and explosive. The plant stopped dropping leaves and soon put out new shoots and leaflets and came back to life with just one "coffee-watering" per month or so. The coffee remains contained exactly what the plant had needed.

I got the idea from reading about jungle forests of the Mato Grosso, and how the soil is essentially poor except for a surface layer of plant debris that brews a "tea" from rainwater which the various plants consume as their basic nutrition.

Better still, get the good beans, pre-roasted, have them ground for you and then freeze them at once, and scoop out a lump of frozen grind when you need it, and stick that in your Hamilton Beach or what have you.

Most coffee companies don't offer the Celebes Kalossi or other varieties that keep your coffee-drinking interesting.

You can get those really adorable little white filters for the “K-Cup gizmo” and then the grounds go into the trash can where they belong. :-)

Not sure where you came up with that one. The standard 1:17 grounds:water ratio applies.

Not sure where you came up with that one.

Easy. Most coffee is made with anywhere between 1 and 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per "6" oz cup.

(yeah, they play games with 5,6,8 etc...)

In any case, the AeroPress needs ~3, at least according what I've read, or maybe even watched on youtube.

I'm assuming they are aiming for the "best" overall taste, otherwise anything less might not make the AeroPress worthwhile to use, let alone buy.

Any way, I ended up with a French Press, and an electric kettle to up the quality of my coffee experience.

The AeroPress would have been cheaper initially, but more expensive feeding it in the long run.

JMO.

I use 2 tbsp in the AeroPress with excellent results. There is an AeroPress competition, and I think the winners use about the same amount.

I seriously doubt that one in three homes has a Kuerig.

Pity for them they do not make that point clear. The 2 or 3 third party videos don’t make that clear, either, opting for using more rather than less.
