My father was in the Navy in ‘51, upon returning from Korea he was at the helm of the USS Ulvert Moore, and the Chief said we are going into Pearl Harbor today, why don't you put up a new flag. Dad said I will take the old one to the incinerator, Chief said, no, put it away for your grand-kids and tell them what we did.
I got that flag a couple of years ago, it is tattered in half and has 48 stars, it is the most prized possession I own.
