Schubert: "On the Bridge"

A ride on horseback. Ian Bostridge accompanied by Leif Andsnes. In German. Written in 1826 with lyrics by the insane poet Ernest Schulze. I always thought that Schubert wrote it for Springsteen. The piano accompaniment is pure rock and roll.

Schubert: "Farewell"

Werner Güra accompanied by Christoph Berner. In German. Another horseback ride, this time to a text by Ludwig Rellstab. From the "Swan Song" collection. This is late Schubert in the full power of his maturity.
