(The Hill) Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Tuesday offered the latest in a series of Republican ObamaCare alternatives ahead of a Supreme Court ruling that could gut the law.
Cruz’s bill, called the Health Care Choices Act, would allow people to buy health insurance across state lines, long a Republican health policy goal. It would also repeal Title I of ObamaCare, which would undo much of the law, including the mandate to buy insurance, the insurance marketplaces and subsidies to help people afford coverage.
Republicans are looking to show that they have a plan ready if the Court strikes down subsidies for around 7.5 million people in the roughly three dozen states using federally-run marketplaces. The Court will hear arguments in the case, King v. Burwell, on Wednesday.
The Obama administration insists that it does not have a contingency plan and that it will prevail in Court.

“the Health Care Choices Act, would allow people to buy health insurance across state lines, long a Republican health policy goal”..
... which should have passed easily when the R’s had the majority in congress, and the White House under GWBush.
Then we wouldn’t even be in this obamadontcare mess.
Which will do nothing for the people losing Obamacare, but if the Republicans are ever going to get a handle on entitlements then they might as well start now and end the Obamacare handout entirely. They’re going to be criticized no matter what; better to be criticized for not spending than for spending too much.
Un-define the 30 hr work week to no limit.
Remove the employer mandate.
Enable competition across state borders.
Remove the private mandate.
Remove the tax penalty for non-participants.
De-fund the subsidies.
Remove minimum policy provisions.
Remove the Fed Govt from all insurance activity.
“
translation: We don’t need a contingency plan. John Roberts knows damned well what we have in our files. “
___________
It’s more likely that they are trying to signal to the court that an adverse ruling would be a hardship on millions, so they had better rule in favor of the administration.
The democratic media are ignoring the fact that with the subsitities also goes the individual Mandate. Ill take freedom over an unafordable and ultimately unworkable government handout anyday.
“Republicans are looking to show that they have a plan ready if the Court strikes down subsidies...”
If they have a better plan, just go the h3ll ahead and pass it - taking out 0’care in the process. Congress created 0’care, they can replace it with whatever they want - anytime they want.
Oh, wait. That would take some stones. Nevermind.....
