Moscow's financial district, with its $12 billion worth of skyscrapers, was meant to be a gleaming beacon for Russia's post-Soviet market economy.
But now with Russia's economy in free-fall, the Moscow City complex property values have nosedived, construction sites are abandoned, and vacancy rates have soared to 45%, according to real estate consultants Blackwood.

Communist economy: people pretend to work, the government pretends to pay them....
I think it’s unlikely to see much foot traffic in winter in the middle of an office park, on a sidewalk that connects one highrise to another. I’m sure plenty of people do walk around in the winter in Moscow (and some of the other photos show plenty of pedestrians), but even here in the US, locations like those shown in these pictures tend not to get much foot traffic in winter, and Moscow winters are a lot colder than most of the US.

Just wait until all those Mothers and Wives start demanding that Putin tell them where their Sons and Husbands went
Who knows exactly where and when that photograph was taken though.
For example...
I know several of them got zotted by JimRob a month or so ago. There are a few still here, but are more subtle and subdued about their opinions.
Moscow is not Siberia. Temperature there averaged +32F this February.
Well, I am in Germany, and they’re all over the place in Winter. I believe I see something you don’t see and you may not agree with. These structures, I think, were construction boondoggles awarded to close friends of Putin. I see this as Potemkin villages. Similarly, in China, whole cities have been built during their boom without anyone in them. But for some, those who are enchanted with the dashing Putin, he’s a brilliant forward-thinking conservative who can make no mistakes. Not saying that’s you.
Chicago is pretty. It also has cancer that cannot be cured.
Yes, you’re so right. The myriad of decisions that go on in an economy are too vast for a government to manage or to even understand, most of the time. I believe it’s even why so many companies do not last very long. They cannot detect a coming change and are caught off guard. This is the type of thing that the smart set, the Obama types, do not get about a free society and the value of free enterprise.
They’re already dealing with this problem and Putin’s suppressing these mothers. It must make the pro Putin posters here proud to know Putin takes no guff off of these women.
You can't fix communist.
Richard Dailey, the first, must be rolling over in his grave.
Man, Ron was sooo right.
You mean by watching two awesome leaders like 9 1/2 fingers and Chuy go at it?
“Putin’s got a terrible physique. He’s got the flabbiness and man boobs that are best hidden.”
Surely you are joking? For a man of 62 he appears to be remarkably fit and in fantastic shape.
Look like those Chinese Potiemkin cities.
No, I’m not joking. It’s embarrassing. But then, maybe in four years I’ll be that flippin’ flabby.
