This was the inevitable end of this charade. There never was a chance that the Republicans were going to commit political suicide by shutting down all or part of the government.

"A battle we can win ... tilting at windmills" For the past six years, whenever the establishment GOP has had a chance to fight the Democrats, we've had "moderates" like yourself on this conservative site giving this same sage advice, verbatim, Sir Chicken of Uniparty: urging "discretion", arguing that we should move on the next dispute that Republicrats can flee, handing over to the (here, out-of-power) Democrats another win while you give the same craven recommendation that we concede.
