It seems like not a day goes by without me reading about some new absurdity. I ran across an article written by some left-wing lunatic who purports to be an English teacher and who is part of what she calls the social justice movement. She writes for a blog called Everyday Feminist. She claims that demanding that everyone speak proper English grammar is grammar snobbery and is oppressive and racist. Why is it oppressive and racist? Because the dictionary was written by a white supremacist, heteropatriarchal system:

Code word-——”Saltine”.
I bee thinkin cood wurit soda.
Sprite? 7UP? Ghost? (Or is that ghostisus?)
“Does that mean its okay to speak Redneck now?”
If you like the word “y’all”, you can keep the word “y’all”.
NO!!!
"Redneck" is spoken by white male heteronormative oppressive patriarchal rapists. (Remember: PIV is Always Rape.) Therefore it, and all who speak it, must be annihilated.
For the common good.
You took the words out of my mouth and as a person of a certain skin color I agree 100% and this female (I refuse to call her a woman) is an idiot. There has to be a standard for a dominate language in a nation so that everyone can be able to communicate the same and also for the business field as well, and as a person who works in IT, I cannot imagine using ebonics or slang to communicate with users, it would make look very stupid. I do not know what the issue with this person is there nothing bigoted about being able to speak properly, and almost every nation including the 3rd world correct me if I am wrong, requires everyone to speak the local language, so we are not the only ones.
Forgot to mention, have the same language is very useful in organizations such as the Military, other wise how the hell are you move, shoot, communicate, do we use ghetto speak then, the hell.
Who axed you?
One finger, raised.
A PLAN FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF ENGLISH SPELLING
by Mark Twain
For example, in Year 1 that useless letter “c” would be dropped to be replased either by “k” or “s”, and likewise “x” would no longer be part of the alphabet.
The only kase in which “c” would be retained would be the “ch” formation, which will be dealt with later.
Year 2 might reform “w” spelling, so that “which” and “one” would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish “y” replasing it with “i” and iear 4 might fiks the “g/j” anomali wonse and for all.
Jenerally, then, the improvement would kontinue iear bai iear with iear 5 doing awai with useless double konsonants, and iears 6-12 or so modifaiing vowlz and the rimeining voist and unvoist konsonants.
Bai iear 15 or sou, it wud fainali bi posibl tu meik ius ov thi ridandant letez “c”, “y” and “x” — bai now jast a memori in the maindz ov ould doderez — tu riplais “ch”, “sh”, and “th” rispektivli.
Fainali, xen, aafte sam 20 iers ov orxogrefkl riform, wi wud hev a lojikl, kohirnt speling in ius xrewawt xe Ingliy-spiking werld.
The United States is circling the bowl and going down.
Thanks for your comments! I completely agree.
It saddens me when I see young people emulating the horrible examples they’re exposed to (also promoted by pop culture). They don’t realize they’re robbing themselves of a good future, self-relegating to the lowest of positions. As soon as somebody hears you speak, if it is ghetto-like, they WILL make judgement on qualifications for a given job. Skin color on either side (employer/employee) is irrelevant.
Most Americans would never understand the slang/accents found in many parts of the UK, blacks and whites speaking the same. Just because they understand each other doesn’t mean they’re marketable outside their immediate region.
It must be racism too right?
Sad really, I do not even have genius level intelligence and even I see this as a bunch of tripe in all honesty. If folks that are struggling in life from certain place want to take this as gospel and prove that the authors of books like the bell curve are correct about them, they can be my guest, I for one will stay far and I mean far away from them so I wont catch the social virus that they have, if you catch my drift, for I am done defending them, let them man (woman) up and do the right thing for a change, most are capable, they just lack common sense and integrity.
The stupidity of the clowns defending Ebonics miss the point that even if the people speaking Ebonics can understand each other, nobody else can. Ebonics speakers are virtually unemployable in the market place.
Whoever is doing the hood translations had better study grammar themselves. In no. 4 it’s “you’re angered” not “your angered.”
Well, I just think your wrong. I think you should loose this idea that many people misspell there words or use bad grammer. Its easy to write sentences without making mistakes. Anyway, I could care less.
We used to have a neighborhood football play with a name a lot like that.
