Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) is wearing special glasses as he recovers from injuries suffered in an exercise accident in December. The most powerful Democrat in Congress could face his toughest reelection race yet next year.
Last week Gravis Insights released a new poll of Minority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nevada) 2016 race and found him trailing two lesser-known challengers: state Attorney General Adam Laxalt (R) and former Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki (R).
Gravis has a poor track record as a pollster, but its results here are in line with other surveys that have repeatedly suggested Reid could be the most vulnerable Democratic senator up for reelection this cycle.
However, operatives on the both sides of the aisle constantly warn against underestimating Reid, a former boxer who is never afraid to deliver surprising blows in his reelection battles. Indeed, veteran Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston said in a February article in Politico Magazine that Reid could never be counted out.
"All other things being equal, Harry Reid cannot win re-election. He is physically and politically battered. He has added more baggage since the miracle of 2010 than has passed through Dulles," Ralston wrote. "But all other things are never equal when it comes to Harry Reid, who specializes in near-death experiences and who always seems down but never is out."

Harry’s NOT powerful. The GOP is WEAK.
It’s curious how he’s never described the machine that allegedly injured him. Some FReepers have speculated that it was a treadmill. His description of a machine with heavy elastic bands excludes that possibility. I’ve not seen any machine that matches his description that could do that. Have any FReepers who work out a lot with sophisticated exercise machines seen one that could fail so destructively?
It could have been a simple elastic strap, from all I could tell from the account I read. If he had one end attached to something and the strap broke while he was pulling on it, I could easily see how it could have snapped backed into his eye and sent him flying backwards.
Funny they call bars rails exercise bikes now?
That might be it. He’s a former boxer and says he does a lot to stay in shape. If he was doing a boxing routine with the strap attached behind him, put all his weight and power into a punch, and the stressed part of the machine gave way, he could have gone flying forward and injured himself as he said he did.
‘Guido the Exercise Bike’ got to him before ‘Little Big Mickey Blue Eyes’ or ‘Tommy the Tongue’ could take the contract.
Both Adam’s father and grandfather served in the Senate (his birth father is former NM Sen. Pete Domenici). It may be early to promote him, but I don’t see why he shouldn’t take the seat back (it was his grandfather’s until Dingy won it in 1986).

“Why hasnt Reid sued the exercise bike manufacturer? Sounds like product liability”
Imagine if you will Harry Reid getting the ever lovin stew beat out of him by some of his mobster buddies.
You couldn’t fling yourself off an exercise treadmill and do that much damage.
If republicans run someone decent, dingy Harry will be out of the race. He almost lost last time as majority leader. Next Time he won’t have that majority leader position to promise untold amounts of Federal Goodies to buy his reelection with.
Laxalt is a big name to have in NV politics. Go Adam.
In which case he should sue his parents since Harry is the defective product!!!
I’d guess...that was just a Mirage.
