In a landmark decision on net neutrality, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) declared the Internet a public utility under Title II of the 1934 Communications Act as reported by CBS News. The 3-2 split decision forces Internet service providers to not actively discriminate in terms of what content is transmitted at what speed.
Obama issued a statement supporting the net neutrality decision.
will protect innovation and create a level playing field for the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Just like Obamacare has? Just like the stimulus package?

It works for me at intersections with red and green lights ... and ... it works very well, across the board, with myself and other citizens, in a whole lot of other matters. It’s very much “reality” for me in my life.
That’s telling in and of itself. The more secret, the more mischievous.
funny how they can believe and trust in a government that lies to them, deceives them, and enslaves them to be their god yet can't fathom the existence of the true God that manifests himself so positively for anyone to see if they just open their eyes and pay attention.
My lovely and less and less liberal girlfriend said yesterday:
“The bureaucrats who design this stuff can’t know because they’re not here.”
I pointed out that she was paraphrasing my second favorite economist: Hayek.
> The bureaucrats who design this stuff cant know because theyre not here.
You can also point this out to her. Those bureaucrats could care less if you were homeless or starving to death as long as the get theirs from their other political buddies. Get this through her head (and all other liberals) - The government does NOT care one iota about you. They only give that perception for ONE reason - your damn vote. But only in large numbers. The moment the group you belong to is no longer considered valuable they will dump you faster than cheap wine. Ask the blacks how they feel about the incoming illegals who’ve taken their votes from the political establishment (and jobs).
If you had read the actual contract that must be affirmed before your signup for service is complete, you would have seen it weasel-words “up to XX mbps.” I.e. they never did guarantee you that was the size of your pipe to any particular source. Nor can you, if you are Comcast, actually guarantee such a thing. Data rate possible depends upon average load on the system. Managing what the average load will be is one of the things Comcast does.
I have no fondness for Comcast as an operation. They are renowned for being customer unfriendly. I would recommend Cox over Comcast where a choice is possible.
So go to another ISP if that happens.
Let the market sort it out.
With these telecoms being monopolies, they have specific ones for specific areas. If you were talking about cel service, and Internet data for your phone, then you’ve got a few choices. If you’re talking about broadband for your home, there is no competition. They’ve divided up areas and they do not overlap with each other. Since they are monopolies and don’t overlap areas, the telecoms (for Internet service) have to be managed like your electrical company, your natural gas company and other such utilities.
“You can also point this out to her. Those bureaucrats could care less if you were homeless or starving to death as long as the get theirs from their other political buddies..... ...The government does NOT care one iota about you. They only give that perception for ONE reason - your damn vote.”
I’d add the main reason for EBT and the multitudes of other ‘free stuff’ is not coming because they “care” about the recipients, but rather because if they give just enough ‘free stuff’ away through wealth redistribution, it keeps the recipients from rioting and the politicians from being hung.
So isn’t the answer to move away from monopoly at the local level? More ISP’s, more choices. Net Neutrality means the opposite.
