He lived pretty long....we all prospered RIP Spock
Has anyone told Sheldon and Leonard?
A hero to many of us from early TV to the last Trek film. I sure hope he was a Christian. He needs to live eternally and he gave us much joy and wit.
One of the great people who inspired my interest in Science.
Besides, all the Red Shirts all get killed off early.
They will bring him back, they always do.
RIP, Leonard Nimoy.
RIP Leonard!
He was also good in the old conspiracy pre Art Bell TV series “In Search Of”. Like the above poster said, he had a very rich voice. He was a cultural icon that will be missed. RIP
There was some truth in Bill Shatner’s infamous SNL sketch in which he dismissed Star Trek as ‘an episodic TV show we did for a lark for a few years.’ But Leonard Nimoy knew almost immediately the appeal and impact of the Spock character which went beyond the white hat-black hat simplicity of the medium and eventually Shatner himself admitted the same.
Star Trek (and Star Wars) have been credited with turning science fiction into science reality by inspiring legions of tech-minded individuals who took the fictional Vulcan philosophy of ‘logic above all else’ seriously.
Gene Roddenberry should be credited for devising the ‘insider who is really an outsider’ character but that was a mere outline. Nimoy grasped the opportunity with both hands, and by refusing to insult the intelligence of the audience he won their undying loyalty (politicians take note).
Spock/Nimoy is on the Mt Rushmore of 20th Century television AND film through the intensity and complexity of his performance. No mean feat.
Two "voices" from The Big Bang Theory have died in the past 12 months.
RIP Mr. Spock.
Truly a show-business icon, and a black day for sci-fi fans.
Rest in peace, Mr. Spock.
And Mr. Nimoy, thanks for entertaining my eternally Trekkie husband his whole life.
I grew up on Star Trek reruns in the 80s. It helped mold my sci-fi and technology mind I I what I am today as an IT engineer. I’ll always cherish Spock, and his rendition of “If I Had A Hammer”.
Thanks for the memories, Leonard, you were a great actor.............................
This sucks
RIP Mr. Nimoy you will be missed.
I hope Mr. Nemoy rests in peace but, not being a Vulcan, I have mixed emotions about the whole “Star Trek” culture of progressive humanism.
“They worshiped and served created things... and because of this, God gave them over.”
—Romans 1:25+
When the Technocratic State-establishment becomes an object of worship, the enterprise’s multicultural poo is headed for the wind tunnel, again.
Then when I entered my high school years it became very popular as a syndicated show. My friends would all come to the house after school to watch on cable.
>>>In his autobiography I Am Not Spock, Nimoy wrote that he based it on the Priestly Blessing performed by Jewish Kohanim with both hands, thumb to thumb in this same position, representing the Hebrew letter Shin (ש), which has three upward strokes similar to the position of the thumb and fingers in the salute. The letter Shin here stands for El Shaddai, meaning "Almighty (God)". Nimoy wrote that when he was a child, his grandfather took him to an Orthodox synagogue. There he saw the blessing performed and was impressed by it.[1]<<<
When the blessing of Abraham -- or nationhood -- is passed on, the name of God invoked is Shadai.<<
We see a pattern developing. When God blesses the patriarchs with many descendants, the name of God employed is Shadai. We should also note that the passages cited above constitute the only usage of this Divine Name until this point in the Torah.<<
