Seeking to wow a crowd of conservative activists on Thursday, Wisconsin governor Scott Walker decided to trumpet what first made him a Republican hero: his crusade against organized labor.
In what many saw as a boast that he could handle Islamic State, Walker talked of besting labor and said: If I can take on 100,000 protestors, I can do the same across the world.
With that red meat line at a gathering of the Conservative Political Action Conference(CPAC), Walker won raucous applause about the episode that thrust him on to the national stagehis success in pushing through legislation in 2011 to curb collective bargaining by Wisconsins public sector unions, notwithstanding huge protests by unions and their allies. Walker argued at the time that government employee unions needed to be weakened, saying their demands and costly benefits, like pensions, were squeezing Wisconsin taxpayers.
On Thursday, as he vied to win what was essentially a conservative beauty contest among potential presidential contenders, Walker boasted about a new war against unions. This week, with his backing and sparking new union protests, Wisconsins Republican-dominated legislature launched a polarizing push to enact a right-to-work law.
Just breaking, Walker told the CPAC crowd in Washington, again to enthusiastic applause. As of next week, Wisconsin will become the 25th state in America that has a right-to-work law.
Right-to-work laws prohibit unions and employers at private sector workplaces from reaching any agreement that requires workers to pay union fees.......

Walker will be a great president or a great VP in the Cruz administration.(Then a great President in 2024).
Interesting use of “crusade”.
Walker doesn’t appear to have actually boasted about a “crusade” but since it’s become Hussein’s go-to term to defend his terrorist BFF’s, maybe they’ll get the message that Walker is a “crusader”?
I like him.
Well, yes! What else do you need to know? You had to be here to understand how bad it was.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
The Leftists did give Walker experience in dealing with death threats to himself and his colleagues.
The Leftists and ISIS are just two different expressions of evil.
I hope he has good body guards. The goon squad will be out for his blood!
They already threatened to “gut his wife like a deer.”
I agree.
I’m guessing Hitlery and Jeb! will soon become (temporary?) allies to try to trash him.
I prefer Cruz but will refrain from criticizing Walker because he’s head and shoulders above Bush or Christie.
Whomever is nominated on the Republican ticket can make their election a slam-dunk by promising in their first 100 days to reverse every one of the purple lipped prince’s EO’s and then tighten up the provisions allowing such abuse.
I am beyond frustrated about whats going on - something had better happen or I'm gonna have a aneurism for sure.
Note: the news media is trying to imply that Walker shut down the unions. He did not. He challenged them and won regarding their extravagant wages and benefits and tenure.
They now have to contribute to their pensions; they no longer automatically have tenure;. Since yesterday, Wisconsin has a Right-to-work law. Union members also no longer have to automatically contribute to the union, if they are in disagreement about the union’s political actions.
Good catch. Democrats use words as weapons... it’s not an accidental use of the term.
“You had to be here to understand how bad it was.”
Yes, I agree. Living next door in Minnesota, we were able to see every night how the labor unions tried to destroy Walker and damaged the state capital building at the same time. They bussed in thugs from Chicago, and challenged him in nearly every court on many issues. But they never prevailed.
One of the reasons they were unsuccessful is that the unions and the Democrats overreached in Wisconsin, and enough people were able to see clearly what was really the problem. It was not Scott Walker, but the unions.
Cruz would be great, too.
Walker knows how to deal with goons, thugs, and bullies... he’s shown is stuff. He’s been tested. And you’re right grumpy - Leftists and ISIS are two different expressions of evil...
If Walker would make that pledge it would ROCK the Left and FIRE UP the voters - propelling him into the WH.
In before the new “Walker is a lightweight, lying POS” brigade!!!
