February 26, 2015 Scott Walker found his stride in a rowdy Conservative Polical Action Conference crowd Thursday during a speech aggressively touting his record as Wisconsin governor to offer evidence for why he's ready to take on the White House in 2016.
"If we can do it in Wisconsin, we can do it across America," Walker said.
After refusing to answer questions about whether President Obama was Christian and declining to clearly outline his position on evolution in recent weeks, Walker did not shy away from some contentious social issues, such as abortion, that have become stumbling blocks for him. Before an eager crowd, Walker continued his campaign to prove he is both pragmatic and conservative enough to win the Republican presidential nomination. He mentioned lower property taxes, the expansion of Second Amendment rights, and defunding Planned Parenthoodall to prove that he can "fight and win" in Wisconsin, a state where a Republican presidential candidate has not won for 30 years.

Same here. No one is perfect. John Bolton for VP would be great.
I’m not surprised the folks at CPAC likes Walker. It’s an establishment crowd.
As for me, I don’t support politicians who have surrendered on life, on marriage, on legitimate judicial authority, on borders, immigration and our national sovereignty, like Governor Walker has.
He’s slick, there’s no doubt about it, but that ain’t nearly enough.
He can’t provide the kind of principled leadership the republic must have if it is to be revived and preserved.
Bolton is pro-”gay marriage.”
No way.
Free Republic is not a blog.
And as long as its owner sticks to principle, it is not “doomed.”
He is??? 😝
Why do we have to have “cheap labor” ..??
The reason I see that people demand cheap labor is because they want more than the usual profits. But, to me profits are based on how well you treat your employees. The better you treat them (and pay them better), the better your company becomes and THE BETTER YOUR PROFITS WILL BE.
You are displaying either your ignorance or your youth.
Reagan and Goldwater were always, fundamentally and simultaneously the Conservative Movements greatest critics and greatest advocates.
There are maybe a dozen committed conservatives in Washington, while no less than 300 ran under a conservative banner.
There is very good cause to be beyond skeptical.
We're at a point in this republic where I don't care how the candidates feel about the "social" issues. I want someone who will stop the train before it hurtles over the cliff. Then we can worry about "social" issues. Walker, Jindal or Cruz should be plenty good enough for anyone here.
I would settle for Walker, so far, I guess. I respect what he has accomplished in Wisconsin, but worry that he isn’t charismatic enough to catch a national following.
My preferred candidate is Ted Cruz. I just watched Hannity interview him on Fox, and love a man with a lightening fast mind, a sense of humor, and a solid understanding of Constitutional principles.
I fear “they” will find a way to marginalize Cruz, tear him down, or take him out.
Yeah, he is.
On gay marriage, I support it, at both the state level and the federal level. Gay marriage is something Ive thought about at length as Ive looked at my future. I concluded, a couple years ago, that I think it should be permissible and treated the same at both levels.”

Hey!
A queer has as much right as the next guy, to marry a woman.
Nothing wrong with being skeptical.
I am not very young. My first POTUS vote was for Barry Goldwater. I have had plenty of disappointments. How could I not - living in Minnesota????
I remember when Ronald Reagan was a moderate on social issues - would not have been acceptable to many of us. He came around to a pro-life stance. We did not withhold our support or votes from him because he was not always perfect, or had previously taken an opposite stance.
I remember as an 18-year old listening to Barry Goldwater in 1960 at the Republican National Convention. We still had black and white TVs then. His most memorable words were, “Conservatives grow up.” He followed it with encouragement that we always need to be ready to fight the fight another day.
Also, just because I am a social conservative does not mean I like reckless spending, a soaring debt, a lousy economy, etc. And a great majority of Americans, yes, even lots of independents. will be putting national security at the top of their list in 2016.
All I am asking of Freepers is to stop this lousy whining and negativeness. If this keeps up, we will wake up on the first Wednesday in November 2016 with President-elect Hillary Rodham Clinton. Now, that’s a scary thought.
You bet.
No scarier than many of the Republicans in the hunt.
+1.
Only if they are on the side of the rule of law, the citizens and American soveignty.
We the People should have some say in who and how many foreigners are admitted.
When foreigners enter your country without permission in large numbers and settle in with their own language and culture, that’s not immigration, that’s colonization.
I honestly don’t know where Jindal stands on the invasion.
Walker has made some frightening comments in the past.
Cruz is standing and fighting for us.
Jeff Sessions has been standing and fighting for us for a lot longer, he should be our next President, but that will never happen.
The Cheap Labor Express owns the GOP/RNC and they will get an amnesty candidate.
They have in the last 4 elections.
We will not be allowed to vote for a President who WILL stop the invasion within the Uniparty, R and D divisions.
Amnesty vs amnesty for a 5th time.
Unless we think outside the box.
Cruz is fighting for the Rule of Law, but he has said he would change the law to allow those now here illegally could stay. And work.
That's Amnesty to me.
I haven’t heard him say that, if true, I agree, that’s amnesty.
Then I’m back to
Draft Jeff Sessions 2016
Cool as a Cucumber. He’s genuine. Not building him up, he is what you see. Authentic.
Maybe I wouldn’t agree with every view of a Reagan or Ike but they were the real thing and Conservative.
That’s just my view.
I like Ted Cruz for President as well.
