"What happens when those bonds need to be paid back?"
Are you crazy or just joshin' us?
Everyone on the planet know, with certainty, the US Taxpayer will not, in a million years, pay back $18 Trillion dollars...over $170k per taxpayer.
It just means that eventually, once the jig is up, there will be regime change and a new dollar.
That's a 100% guaranteed axiom in place since the beginning of time. As unalterable as the Sun rising in the east.
No National Regime has survived a currency collapse. Ever.

No National Regime has survived a currency collapse. Ever. That's part of "change".

You are correct. NAFTA was unacceptable to the Democrats in the 1990s with their heavy unionization. Canada, Mexico and the US would form another European type Union, issuing the American Dollar (or Dollar of the Americas). After assembling the NAFTA with currency, North America would extend its trade zone into South America with 100% membership.
Not enforcing the US border is implementation of NAFTA by the Democrats; with nearly 1/2 of the Democrat the Black populace, adding the Brown populace would give them a commanding lead of the Independents and Republicans.
A new currency is indeed in order, that is short order.

No National Regime has survived a currency collapse. Ever. That is true by definition. When the value of the regime's money approaches zero no one will life a finger to preserve or defend it.

What is it you think I was trying to say that brought about that response?
Of course it's going to be a mess. Anyone who can think this policy through would reach that conclusion.
