There’s a lot I like about Christie, and I know there’s a lot of people across the country going ‘I can’t believe she’s saying that! Christie’s a liberal!’
First of all, Christie’s not a liberal. (Laugh-snorts), okay?
For the record, since bribing and cajoling his way into the governor’s mansion in 2009, the severely conservative Chris Christie has:

Laura, Chris Christie is a “conservative”? On whose planet? Is it in our solar system?
Christie is a conservative in comparison to most politicians here in the northeast (including Rudy Giuliani, who has some fans on this site). He is anti-tax, anti-teachers’ unions, and has all the right enemies. While he may not seem conservative to FReepers from other areas, he is much more conservative than either of the last two Republican candidates for president (and I don’t think he should run for president).
He is desperately trying to keep NJ a place where American taxpayers can raise families; it is an uphill battle, but he is trying. He isn’t perfect, but until you live here in NJ you’d never understand why he is a breath of fresh air.

Christie is anti-gun, pro-Islamic, pro-illegal invader. He hasn’t done anything to improve New Jersey’s economic picture aside from dealing with the pension mess there. Businesses continue to leave the state and revenues continue to be lost.
In fairness to Christie, he has vetoed some very onerous gun laws proposed by the Democrats in Trenton and now apparently opposes Common Core. He hasn’t signed onto the suit against Obamacare but that might be due to the stste’s fiscal problems.
I fon’t think this guy has the charm and persona to appeal to middle America and the polls reflect that.
With so many solid conservatives to select from, why pick this guy?
Well, compared to Obama, Hugo Chavez, he would be considered a conservative.
