Politics1 lists a 2016 special, FWIW.
Be curious to see what hack Nixon puts in the job (maybe digs up Susan Montee, McCaskill’s protégé and successor whom Schweich beat in 2010).
With Schweich’s sad absence now, the establishment hack Catherine Hanaway, already a statewide loser, becomes the frontrunner for the Gubernatorial nomination (I do not expect her to win the general if she is nominated against RINO-turned-Dem AG Chris Koster). Getting a non-establishment candidate is paramount. I see John Brunner (who was a runner-up to Akin for the Senate nomination) might get in, but at this point, we’ve got to get Hanaway out of the way (especially so if she peripherally contributed to Schweich’s suicide). Dems have their A-team, and this is just an embarrassment (if not fiasco) on the GOP side.
I hope law enforcement are able to quickly decipher what exactly pushed Schweich over the edge. It’s just very bizarre and speculation is running wild.
