Its started.
As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is putting the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabelas, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

What states were flipped by those who stayed home? Shouldn’t we start working them now?
You attacked me on that issue and accused me for Romneys loss. Answer please.
Fine. If you held your nose and voted for Romney, I did the same thing. So what are you ranting about?
Armor piercing........
So how is it my fault that Romney lost?
Romney didn’t need to win every state. He just needed the votes of the 4 million idiots who stayed home, “tiger”.
Answer my question, “Where did I say that I didn’t vote for Romney?”..
You attacked me on that issue and accused me for Romneys loss. Answer please.
Your posts indicate that. That’s the impression given.
Me thinks thou dost protest too much.
Well if you voted for Romney, what are you bitching about him for? Try to make sense.
He’s got no authority to ban the sale of ammunition. I’d just ignore him and keep selling it anyway. Force him to try to arrest me for something that is not violating any law.
Well if he does that, we will post about it!
That will show ‘em!
Under a GOP congress and so called conservative heavy supreme court......
.... BOHICA !
In the early 80s I bought a TC Super 14 Contender in 223 caliber. Handguns have been available for the caliber for decades.
We must think alike... that is what I have... the plastic pmags.
I notice the Nikon 3.5-14x42 sells on Amazon for just a little bit more than the POSP3-9x42 on kalinkaoptics.
I divided my firearms up into roles, intended for a household of 6: so there are roles for:
PDW (9mm, .357, .45)
CQB (shotguns, 9mm carbines)
Med (AR15, AK47)
DMR (.308)
End goal is 3 of each... 2 of each for the PDW.
I also figure on getting an 1919 A4 eventually, with crankfire kit.
THat comment. It was 100% correct. I laughed and cried.
Best I can tell, it looks like the difference between this BATFE attempt to ban 5.56 and the 2012 attempt is that the 2012 version was based on the BATFE interpreting the definition of AP ammo, which actually expanded the definition beyond the definition determined by law. Since the BATFE can’t change the definition without review, the 2012 attempt was shot down.
This new attempt is based on setting two criteria for removing the “sporting purposes” exemption. So if the ammo can penetrate soft body armor and is available for use in a handgun platform then that round is no longer exempt under this rule change. They are initially targeting 5.56 green tip ammo, but the rule change could be applied to all high velocity ammo. Since the exemption rule has no legally required criteria and all exemptions are at the discretion of the US AG, then it will limit our recourse for countering the rule change. I think this is a test for broader future action.
Voting for a Progressive Republican is the same as voting for any other tyrant.
You didn’t read the second sentence I wrote. I wrote that with tongue in cheek.
Yep......agree !
Many years ago during the Clinton Presidency, a firearms manufacturer called Olympic Arms, built a semi-automatic pistol that fired 7.62x39mm Ammo. It looked for all practical purposes just like a shortened & no shoulder stock version of a mAK rifle. It resulted in some anti-gun folks claiming that steel core ammo (the cheap stuff imported from China) could/should be classified as cop-killer amour piercing ammo. Up until then Chi-Com surplus and newly manufactured ammo was feeding a frenzy of SKS and MAK rifle imports into the U.S.
Been there done that. Shortly after the banning of Chi-Com surplus ammo, Russian and Eastern European surplus and newly manufactured ammo floodgates opened and those who had SKS and MAK’s found other sources of ammo.
Personally, I find it stupid and childish what the government is doing, but there sill be other sources of ammo, as nature and capitalism abhor a vacuum or unfilled market.
The Clinton administration rang this bell and it didn't stop shooting sports. Obama can ring the bell again and it will create a temporary price bubble for ammo, but it too won't last long.
Keep shooing my friends.
The myth started based on a single flawed article that came out before all the vote totals were even in, and it was quickly debunked once we could look at the numbers.
That hasn’t deterred those who love to blame conservatives for Romney’s failed campaign (if you can even call it a campaign).
