It’s started.
As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is putting the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabela’s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

And how can there actually be a rationale for banning the allegedly armor-piercing bullets, anyhow. Drive-by shooters and rogue police forces aren’t going to just disappear because this ammo does.

Voting for the lesser of two evils over time will eventually lead to tyranny. It’s just a slower approach. The Republican party seems to be on board with a Democrat goal, but just at a slower pace.

I only voted for Romney (and McCain likewise) because he was running against a communist. If the D candidate were just a garden-variety liberal statist, I wouldn’t have given Romney the time of day.

As much as this pisses me off, this is a standard interpretation of a 20 year old law. Armor piercing ammo laws refer to any ammo that can be used in a handgun (other than a single shot) with a steel core. It does not apply to rifle ammo.
This steel penetrator ammo for ARs has been around a while. In the last few years there has been an explosion of 5.56 AR pattern handguns.
So we all lost the penetrator ammo.
Its freaking retarded and only came about after one of the lethal weapon movies when they were prominently featured. There was one fantastic (in the 1800s sense of the word) scene where a 9mm with special “cop killer” bullets were fired right through the blade of a bulldozer. So of course, we got a law in much the same way as the switchblade law came out of “West Side Story”.
Its lame, but this is not a new law, or a new policy.
Anyway, be happy, 55gr M193 is a far more devastating round anyway. Very nasty stuff,,,
And if you really need 855 for some arcane reason, feds will have all of it that you need. Just go take it :)

Gun people that are dismissive of this are the same people that call “Gun Shows” => “Sportsmen Shows”.
