Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) will not vote for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appropriations bill because it funds President Obamas controversial immigration actions, he told the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Thursday.
Our laws dont authorize this action so if its carried out, if its implemented, this action will have the effect of undoing something that Congress has done and doing so in a way that circumvents the Constitution, he said. We have to use the power of the purse, we have to withhold funding when the president does that.
Senate Democrats have repeatedly filibustered to block a funding measure that would halt Obamas immigration actions, so Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) decided to hold two votes one on defunding those actions, and the other on a clean bill that funds the agency in its entirely.
But some conservative lawmakers are pushing back against that plan and Heritage Action, the prominent conservative group, said it will score a clean bill as an affirmative vote for immigration amnesty.
If the question is whether I will vote to fund the presidents executive amnesty program, no I will not, and Id ask my colleagues to stand with me, Lee said at CPAC.

he voted with the MAJORITY and DID NOT stand up to mc connel and the demoRATS.
WATCH HIS ACTIONS!!!!
98-2 and he was NOT one of the 2
ACTIONS MATTER.............WORDS DON’T!!!!!
Lee voted with b!tch..........
what would be the difference?
Mitch McConnell Announces a Vote on Clean DHS Funding Is Coming
Couldn’t they pass whatever bill they want in the Senate, then have the bill come out of conference defunding amnesty? That way they only need 51 votes to pass. Or they could do like the dems did with obamacare.
This was only a vote to DEBATE the bill .... Mike Lee is one of the few good guys.
the article I read said they expected the part that blocked funding would be stripped out.
with mc connel as leader that will be the goal.
Lee should have voted NO and held out for a vote on the HOUSE BILL, that would have showed guts.
This vote was meaningless. The dims had been blocking the vote to even debate the bill until DingyHarry gave them their marching orders to stop blocking it. Whether this vote was 98-2 or 51-49 wouldn't have mattered. It was going to go to debate.
Cruz and Lee will join Sessions and Inhofe on voting against this DHS funding compromise by McConnell & Co.
You do no good by continuing to wrongly trash the few good conservatives in D.C.
...we can only dream.
What is dirty about not funding everything? Is that not the whole point of spending bills?
How is it clean to pass a bill that funds everything much less pass one from the senate?
Is not the technical definition of clean bill to pass many bills each funding many different things so that a majorty may be required to consent to each item, and to do so starting from the house?
The bill disallowing hte ammnesty action will if passed, be vetoed.
the only course is to go forward and provide no money for DHS. Make them work with no appropriation.
Then begin a continuous loud and ever present denunciation of the President as a tyrant, a non American. Drag him through the mud with an all court press.
