A memo from a top adviser to Jeb Bush gives a clue as to how he could connect with the conservative base of his party if he runs for president: talking about his religious faith.
Faith is listed as one of nine issues you care about in a memo to Mr. Bushs supporters from Sally Bradshaw that quotes Mr. Bush on each topic, offering an on-message preview of his potential bid for the Republican nomination.
Referring to his conversion to Catholicism, Mr. Bush says, My faith was strengthened when I converted to my wifes faith
It gives me a serenity that, in a world of a lot of turbulence, is really important. It creates a moral architecture that simplifies things. There are views that I have, that are grounded in faith, that really arent negotiable and it just simplifies things.

Is it just me? or does Jeb seem like the stupider brother...?
Let’s give him the Dan Qualyle treatment
If dubya was the shrub then Jeb must be the weed.
Religion, false patriotism, the last refuge of a scoundrel.
Loosely, from Samuel Johnson.
Understood, but my 2nd Term Congressman has already shown himself to be a backstabber. And the only other seat for Rs I could vote for is Johnny Backstabber Isakson....and that is also not going to happen for me.
Based on his behavior, I suspect Jeb Bush is a secret believer in the Church of the SubGenius.

Rove probably told Jebbie to say these things.
Picture Imelda Marcos, then :0)
When I was in the military overseas, we said girlfriends like this wanted to get married and go back to “the land of the Big PX.”
Seems she has quite a lot of control over Jeb. As for his alleged faith, doesn’t it conflict with his actions regarding Terri Schiavo? That case should turn many religious Conservatives against him.
“Hail Columba...um, I mean Columbia.”
“.. the last refuge of a scoundrel”.
I agree. With respect to religion, I have noticed those who are truly faithful.. aren’t pointing out “LOOK at me.. I’m faithful and religious. I really, really am!” People who have faith just have faith. It becomes a part of them sort of like brown eyes or blonde hair. It just is... IMHO, this is a poor attempt to “fool” truly conservative people into thinking he has a strong religious faith.
I thought his campaign theme was how conservatism needed to be reformed into something not conservative?
It does sound like it. His support of Common Cause, among many other positions, is of concern.
