The United States military does not currently have the ability to fight two major wars simultaneously, according to a new report, a significant reduction from the capacity enjoyed by defense officials for decades.
The Heritage Foundations "2015 Index of U.S. Military Strength" concludes that the armed forces would be ill-equipped to handle two, near-simultaneous major regional contingencies (MRC). The two-MRC goal was largely attained during the Cold War, when U.S. forces engaged in a conflict every 15 to 20 years while maintaining ground forces in other regions to ensure stability and deter aggressors.
That strategy enables the U.S. military to defeat one adversary in a conflict while preventing another aggressorseeking to take advantage of the United States preoccupation with the first conflictfrom defeating it in a separate theater.
But this strategy is no longer feasible, according to the report.
The consistent decline in funding and the consequent shrinking of the force are putting it under significant pressure, the report said. Essential maintenance is being deferred; fewer units (mostly the Navys platforms and the Special Operations Forces community) are being cycled through operational deployments more often and for longer periods; and old equipment is being extended while programmed replacements are problematic.

Modern weapons are very advanced and take a long time to design and build. The more advanced they get, the harder they are to produce. That said, it’s foolish to think we’ll have plenty of time to prepare for future wars. It’s not likely going to be like WWII where the US military had years to rebuild itself.
No. We will likely go to war with what we have. If an aircraft is missing a high tech gadget that takes years to make, that aircraft is most likely down for the duration. Not enough smart bombs and complicated missiles? Probably too late to build more.
My point? It is more essential than ever before to have enough resources—on hand, including spare parts—to fight a war to completion. You can’t fabricate an F-22, a B-2 bomber, or their munitions in small, low tech shops.
High tech can be a vulnerability in itself.
The first dozen minutes is an intro w/impressive background info of each of the contributors to report.
This alarming report is "DEscriptive" of the current situation of our diminished military capability. These same folks are also working on a PROscriptive report coined...RAMP- Renewing America's Military Project
At around the 27 minute mark, discussion of availability/placement of military assets mentions the regions which our assets have no presence. He mentions Russia's increased efforts in the Arctic to secure shipping lanes. ..triggering a historic reminder of Europe's reasons for seeking secure commerce routes across little explored western seas - away from Barbary treachery. Given his remarks @ Africa security concerns...hmmmm.
I am pretty much sick of it all. If people really don’t like what Obama is doing, they would do something more than piss and moan.
So what? He sucks and is a traitor. So what? Whining accomplishes nothing. Obama loves our freaking whining. He knows he is free to do as he pleases.
But we aren’t.
Bump to the top...

We can’t/won’t defend our own southwestern border.
