Two prominent House committee chairs are deeply disappointed in Federal Communications Commission chairman Tom Wheeler for refusing to testify before Congress as the future of the Internet is at stake. Wheelers refusal to go before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday comes on the eve of the FCCs vote on new Internet regulations pertaining to net neutrality. The committees chairman, Representative Jason Chaffetz (R., Utah), and Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Fred Upton (R., Mich.) criticized Wheeler and the administration for lacking transparency on the issue. So long as the chairman continues to insist on secrecy, we will continue calling for more transparency and accountability at the commission, Chaffetz and Upton said in a statement. Chairman Wheeler and the FCC are not above Congress. The vote on the new Internet regulations is scheduled for Thursday. The FCCs two Republican commissioners have asked Wheeler to delay the vote to allow more time for review. The changes would allow the commission to regulate the Internet like a public utility, setting new standards that require the provision of equal access to all online content.

The Sgt at Arms
Not just the militia.
Flying the American flag upside down is a recognized distress signal.
From The U.S. Flag Code:
Ҥ8. Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
(a)The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

Subpoena him!
More specifically, the Founding States had made the referenced clauses to clarify that all federal / regulatory powers are vested in the elected members of Congress, not in the executive or judicial branches, or in non-elected bureaucrats like those running the FCC.
So Congress has a constitutional monopoly on federal legislative powers whether it wants it or not. And by delegating federal legislative / regulatory powers to non-elected bureaucrats, Congress is wrongly protecting federal legislative powers from the wrath of the voters in blatant defiance of Sections 1-3 mentioned above.
Don’t the fees collected get disbursed back out to the agencies via the budget every year? That is how I understand things work.
I didn't know that a FEDGovernement official had the ability to refuse to testify.
That is why Congress has a 'Sargent-at-Arms' position, to compell appearance for Congressional testimony .
Nothing today in FEDGovt. today surprizes me - with a Criminal-in-Chief, and selective law enforcement. !
This is eery and outlandish.
I have to agree. I keep asking.. "when is someone gonna step up and DO SOMETHING to "cut 'em off at the pass?"
Fred Upton (R., Mich.) criticized Wheeler and the
administration for lacking transparency on the issue.
They make statements like this then DO NOTHING to rectify the situation.
Why the hell would he. There is no accountability any more. The coup is total and complete.
Algore said that he invented it; maybe he can give McConman Internet 101...sorry, maybe it’s 0.0.
