Nevadas own Dirty Harriet, Las Vegas Republican Asemblywoman Michele Fiore, recently regaled the Chronicle of Higher Education with an oldie-but-goodie among gun lovers.
I dont know who the quote was said by, but Ive heard it several times and I believe it wholeheartedly, that an armed society is a polite society, Fiore said.
Ah, yes, who could forget the recent exchange of pleasantries in Las Vegas between Tammy Myers and 19-year-old Erich Nowsch that ended with Myers dead and Nowsch facing a long prison term, at best? And thats but the tip of the iceberg of Second Amendment moments that demonstrate how the proliferation and misuse of weapons often ends in a ride to the hospital or the graveyard

Some people just cant stand the strain of living in liberty.
Looks to me like the person who wrote this is one of them.
We peasants should give up our guns and ammunition so the gunthugs of the American Police State can murder us by the thousands with total impunity, just like in other totalitarian states of the 20th & 21st centuries...
Stories like this are why we have [Barf Alert]s.
The maxim holds true.
It’s just that at the beginning, it takes a while for some of the perpetually impolite to receive their rides to the hospital or graveyard.
Robert A. Heinlein,
Far better to let them kill you, right, Steve?
Let me check if I would experience any moral, spiritual or legal consequence in the event I used my weapon in legal self defense.
Ummm... Nope.
In “Beyond This Horizon”, right?
The LV Review-Journal sure has fallen a long way since the days when Vin Suprynowicz wrote for them.
Ah, yes, the 19-year-old Nowsch was carrying illegally since you must be 21 in Nevada to qualify for a concealed firearms permit.
So a lawbreaker broke the law. What does that have to do with an armed society, Mr. Sebelius?
Today, the Nevada Assembly Committee on Judiciary is hearing A.B. 139 which Revises provisions governing the issuance of permits to carry concealed firearms. In other words, recognizing CCW cards from all other states.
My response to one of the anti-self defense cowards in the comments section of that article. They make the absurd claim that, “The cowards are the ones walking around armed, seeing boogiemen in every dark corner and escalating every dispute into a gun battle on Nevada streets...”
My response -
Except that none of what you claim has ever happened. That “Wild West” meme that you anti-self defense cowards and fools keep trotting out is largely a figment of Hollywood imagination. You really should try watching less TV and fewer movies.
The sad and disgusting thing is that you have at some point decided that neither your own life nor the lives of your loved ones (assuming you have any) aren’t worth defending. You have conflated a learned helplessness with an overweening sense of moral superiority. The former is merely contemptible, the latter is completely undeserved, and in the end, laughable.
In parting, here’s something for you to consider: the right to defend my own life, liberty and property (yes, property) is as absolute as my right to live. It is not subject to compromise or reasonable restrictions or so-called common sense laws.
Sebelius.......Sebelius......where have I heard that name before? Any relation?
It’s been changed to “Harf Alert”, in honor of Marie “Miss Teen South Foggy Bottom” Harf...
Well said.
Yes.
Is Steve related to that ghoul Kathleen who used to be Kansas governor and later in Bacrock Osama's cabinet?
