Rahmbo forced into humiliating runoff in Chicago
American Thinker ^ | 02/25/2015 | Rick Moran

Four years ago, former Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel breezed to victory in the Chicago mayor's race. He was the golden boy of Democratic politics, mentioned in some party circles as a possible presidential candidate in 2016.

Yesterday, the incumbent mayor was humiliated by failing to receive a majority of the votes against 4 relative unknowns. The result forces an April 7 runoff where he is still expected to win handily, but is now considered damaged goods.

His downfall? Persistent violence and a pension shortfall threatening to bankrupt the city.

Bloomberg:

“We have come a long way and we have a little bit further to go,” Emanuel told supporters at a West Side union hall, his voice raspy from campaigning. “We will get back out there, talking to our friends and families and neighbors as they make a critical choice about who has the strength, who has the leadership, who has the ideas to move this great city forward.”

Governing Chicago has proven to be a daunting challenge. While Emanuel won the endorsements of much of the city’s establishment, including his predecessor, former Mayor Richard M. Daley, and former boss, President Barack Obama, his standing was weakened in black neighborhoods. Residents there said the 2013 closing of 50 public schools and persistent violent crime supported their complaint of “two Chicagos.”

Garcia’s supporters didn’t expect to win Tuesday, angling instead for the runoff. Many wore buttons reading “April 7 Chicago is Chuy Country” with a drawing of the candidate’s large black mustache.

Eric Russell, a 50-year-old insurance agent who lives in the South Shore neighborhood, said at Garcia’s party that anger over inequality propelled the effort.

How do they figure that? when a majority already voted for someone else?

Does this mean the collective IQ of voters in Chicago may need to be re-evaluated for a positive trend? Could they breach the double digit barrier?

Stay tuned.

A buddy of mine was telling me how he was talking smack about blacks in one on one conversations with firefighters. Stuff like that gets around - which is probably exactly what Rhambo wanted.

The cemetery electorate will come to Rahmbo's rescue in April.

Runoff? After Obama campaigned in Chicago for him?

After Rahm "raised" and spent all that campaign money?

EDITED NEWS REPORT With Emanuel’s (cough) name recognition has come much more spending and fundraising.

Since leaving the White House as President Obama’s chief of staff in 2010 to run for mayor the first time around, Emanuel (cough) raised about $30 million..... $15 million alone for this election-----an eye-popping four times as much as the total of his four challengers combined.

Chuy Garcia (backed by MoveOn.org, the progressive group begging Senator Elizabeth Warren to run for president) has raised about $1 million, mostly in teachers’ union money.

Plus---Emanuel is spending freely, nearly $7 million to monopolize the airwaves with ads.

Rahm ran 4,600 TV ads since Nov.......while his opponents are nearly invisible.

Rahmmy, how could you possibly thumb your
nose at the cemetery voters? That constituency
has won national elections for you and now you
totally ignore them. That stinks! Richard Daily is
rolling over in his grave and he didn’t even vote
for you this time.

Far from it. If anything, others have been much more radical in playing the “inequality” card. Chicago really is in the toilet when a huge portion of taxes go to service the pension plans and a fraction actually is spent on services. Just look at the condition of roads, even in nicer neighborhoods. The city dissuades folks from trimming trees on parkways but that’s exactly what I do to avoid potentially dangerous conditions.

This is what happens when you allow HOMOSEXUALS to ruin your city government!

OK so the runoff is a Jewish guy vs a guy named Jesus.

Should be some fun campaign signs.

What a dilemma. Where will professional Hispanic Luis Gutierrez throw his weight on this one?

Rep. Gutierrez endorsed Mayor Emanuel. Last night, when Rahm gave his speech, Luis was standing about two feet behind Rahm.

So he’s all for them storming across the border as long as they don’t get too uppity. Good plantation man, that Luis.
