Taya Kyle, the widow of American Sniper and Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, stunned at the Oscars last night in Hollywood. She arrived on the red carpet in a beautiful green dress, carrying her husband's dog tags.
Although American Sniper didn't win best picture last night from the Academy, it certainly has won over Americans. The movie has grossed a whopping $400 million since its opening in January, breaking all kinds of records. The film received six Oscar nominations overall and according to Forbes, is one of the top grossing best picture nominees of all time. Alan Robert Murray and Bub Asman won an Oscar in the category of sound editing for the film.
Taya Kyle returned to Texas overnight for the continuation of the trial for the man who killed her husband.
"I am in beautiful Southern California courtesy of Warner Brothers who have been exceptional to work with in every aspect. Turns out they are like the fairy GodMother for a regular woman who has kids, a murder trial for her beloved and dear friend and am honestly exhausted," Kyle wrote on her Facebook page Sunday. "I wanted to support everyone who made this movie representing real veteran families, but I didn't think I had the energy to show up at the Oscars, let alone be presentable. So, I find myself in a surreal position...like Cinderella who scrubs the floors but has a fairy Godmother (Warner Brothers) who got me on a plane and had a dress and jewelry and even the shoes and spanx waiting for me...And so it is. I am here. To represent my husband, military families and the beautiful people who put more than they had to to make this movie happen. I have a red eye flight scheduled to get me back for the trial on Monday morning. I am praying the impending ice storm in Texas doesn't inhibit a safe trip home. I hope I look better for the evening tonight. I am blessed to have my beautiful loving sister with me to hold my hand and dry my tears from what is sure to be an emotional evening. It's by the Grace of God and the support of people like you who literally give me the energy to get out of bed each day and see the beauty through the ashes of my life. I hope the same for all of you. We all struggle and we all have to find the strength to fight another day. I know I am not alone. The details may be different but our stories of fighting on, finding the strength to help ourselves and accepting the help of others when we can ... Our constant fight to get on a path to renewal is always common ground - it's the human condition. God Bless you all."

I watched QVC last night (please, don’t judge me on this) and two segments were the Joan Rivers collection. Her spokesperson David Dangle, was so classy, he mentioned the Oscars several times in reference to the statement necklaces that the actresses wore, and how Joan had made equally beautiful ones available to her customers for years. He talked about Joan on the red carpet, on Fashion Police, but not once, did he let us know how hurt and disappointed he was Joan was not saluted last night.
I miss her. I have bought her jewelry for gifts for my mother and sister and they were very pleased with their beauty and quality. Joan was such a nice and down to earth person on QVC and I do miss her presence and her elegant styling.
Still doesn't make it easy.

I don’t think you were the only disgusted by the underwear! What purpose did it accomplish??
I believe she was murdered in response to her comments about Barry & Michelle a few weeks prior. Perhaps her medication was tampered with (dose doubling), the morning of her procedure?
It should have won best picture, best actor and best director, too bad all the Hollywood maids didn’t think so.
We experienced that same quiet from the crowd upon exit. One of my sisters said the same when she and her husband saw the film.
Powerful, powerful movie. Gave a glimpse of the hell our young men have had to endure.
The Oscars have been increasingly irrelevant towards the recognition of the best performances in the production of motion pictures for the last 50 years or longer. If anything, recognition by an Oscar is often confirmation of inferior performance. Its effect upon my purchasing habits is to discourage the viewing and purchasing of such motion pictures.
Dang ... she looks like his (grand)daughter ...
Feast your eyes Hollywood on REAL beauty.
Just wow! I have had a ton of respect for this fine American Lady, but reading those words have made my heart swell with pride that Americans such as this still exist!
Thank you for posting these beautiful words full of heartfelt thanks, yet honesty.
LOL
Thank-you for telling me about this documentary about Joan Rivers. She had accomplished so much with her on time on earth and she had so much more to do.
I remember her on her reality show talking about the Dark Ages, she quipped,” It wasn’t so bad; parking was good.”
I also remember her talking to her daughter Melissa before going into the doctor’s office and telling her to fret if she dies.
“What are people going to say? “Joan mused. “So young?”
I am surprised Melissa has not had an investigation of the circumstances of that procedure in the doctor’s office.
Thank-you for the chat,
I learned that lesson back when I was a kid. In 1981, that silly Chariots of Fire won best picture over Raiders of the Lost Ark. That actually did me a favor -- I lost interest and haven't watched another awards show since.
0bama was never a college professor. He was a “senior lecturer.”

American Sniper is the real winner by any REAL measure. Clint Eastwood and Warner Brothers are laughing all the way to the bank. BTW, give it a few more weeks and American Sniper will be the #1 Top Grossing Film of 2014.
Liberal elites figure if the general public likes something it is obviously not tasteful enough for beings of their lofty stature.
