They lost a lawsuit, IIRC. MS was an original partner in naming it and didn’t retain the ability to take back the ‘MS’ if it should be sold, I think.

If I were MicroSoft CEO, I’d just tell everybody that the ‘MS’ part of MSNBC stands for ‘MORE STUPIDITY’ and let them stew................
