Militias in Libya have captured chemical weapons from storage areas in southern and central parts of the country, the Arab media reported on Saturday.
“Unfortunately [chemical weapons] exist in locations known to the militias, who have seized large amounts of them to use in their war against the [Libyan] army,” a Libyan military official told the London-based daily Asharq al-Awsat.
The former regime of Muammar Gaddafi had held the chemical weapons and the official warned that Islamic State could obtain the chemicals, which include mustard gas and the nerve agent Sarin.
“Before his death, Gaddafi left approximately one thousand cubic tons worth of material used for manufacturing chemical weapons and about 20,000 cubic tons of mustard gas,” added the military official.

What’s a “cubic ton”? A ton is a unit of weight, not length.

I think it weighs a bit more that a spherical ton, factoring in the corners and all.

He was not a threat. He opened his weapons arsenal for inspections. The Libyan people were far more prosperous under him.
The muslim brotherhood wanted to take over Libya. Obama helped them. Obama helped them in Egypt too. Obama wants to help them overthrow Syria too.
Obama should be tried for war crimes.

I suspect this news release could be to provide a new meme to replace the old one that is looking more and more outdated. ISIS has been sitting in Mosul, Iraq and Saddam’s chem weapons plant trying to excavate into the “dragon’s egg” no doubt, and it is only a matter of time before they get their hands on the stuff there.
And if they use it things will get awkward after all the claims there weren’t any to be found.
A certain bunch of rats can now say any chem weapon used from now on is Libyan- no matter where it comes from.

Agreed. Obama did created ISIS, and he did arm Al Qeada in Libya. In fact Obama has done all the things he said he would never do in the region
