From the brief bio on Wikipedia, Bill Nye's sole claim to scientific expertise is a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell. Not trivial, but hardly enough to construe him as the world's foremost science Expert on Everything.

The degree may be called a Bachelor of Science but Mechanical Engineering isn’t considered a scientific discipline is it? Sincere question, I don’t know. It certainly isn’t one of the natural sciences like climatology or meteorology.
