Thanks for sharing. Forrest Gump was a masterpiece.

The story of a pure-hearted simpleton caught up in current events, who, aware of his own intellectual deficiencies, consoles himself repeatedly throughout the movie with the words, “stupid is as stupid does...” and judged by those criteria proves to be the smartest character in the entire story:

He is the only character who “does” all that is right and good. He saves his platoon, he protects the weak from bullies, he loves people for themselves, unconditionally, as they are, he is not a racist, he is humble. He is everything a good person might strives to be. He is so good he is nearly angelic, which explains why leftists hate the movie.

The great irony and tragedy for his love interest, Jenny, is that she destroys her life in a quest for meaning and happiness, both things which Forrest has in abundance, and which he only ever wants to share with her, his Jenny. The most poignant moment in the film is when she lays dying, and he recounts the various beautiful places he has seen and experienced, things which she never got to see because she never managed to “do” the right things..

Anyway, the story is a masterpiece. I highly recommend it as one of the best movies ever.

I respectfully disagree. It represents the epitome of everything that is wrong with America. (spoiler alert) His mom sleeps with the high school principle to "mainstream" a handicapped kid into the normal curriculum. When they find out he's fast, he's promoted and passed because he's the local football star. Every one he ever met, most of all Jenny, uses him for their own gain and never give him anything in return. Even the one guy stole his bumper sticker phrase. Jenny repeatedly uses him, then finally dumps her kid off on him when she is dying. Even Lt. Dan comes to mooch a job off of him when times are hard.
