From Johnny earlier today:
"Time to fess up.
Turns out I have brain cancer that moved there from my lungs. Prognosis is poor. I had brain surgery a couple of weeks ago.
Of course, being me, I intend to fight hard to the very end, and beat the odds. I may well be around for harvest season this year. That is my intent. Normal prognosis is in weeks.
I've held off on bringing this up on FR for several reasons. But the time to bring it up is now.
Consider this my opus. It's as close as I'm going to get to giving one.
I really want to thank Jim for giving us a forum. Jim, you do good work. Thanks."

Johnny, I’m guessing perhaps you have glioblastoma (though of course I really have no idea). I ran across this article and thought you might have an interest in it.

The professor who ‘cured’ his cancer with a cocktail of everyday pills and 20 years on remains disease-free
Ben Williams’ aggressive brain tumour was treated with conventional therapies - and with a mix of common drugs, including those for acne, insomnia and high blood pressure, as revealed in a new documentary. Could this approach work for others?
Prayers up. keep up the fight.
Prayers
Johnny,
You are in my prayers especially during this Lenten season. You have many friends on Free Republic who are praying for you as well. May God heal your sickness and give you strength.
Amen.
I’m so sorry to hear this, I’ve really liked your posts.
I’ll pray for you, and if you lived closer I would send you my famous chicken soup.
You are in my heart and in my prayers, Johnny. You’ve been a real friend to me over the years. Please keep a seat open for me in Heaven, OK?
Prayers for you FRiend...many prayers. So sorry to hear of your diagnosis...but please know that you are being lifted up in prayer by so many.
G-d bless.
prayers.
Good Grief man,
It was like I just heard that from my brother.
I have read your comments for years and always appreciated the things you mentioned about yourself - the little personal tidbits. Several times in the past I would mention to my wife some comment that JRandomFreeper would say and she would crack up cause she loved your freepname.
In fact about a month or more ago you mentioned something and I got the uh-oh vibe that something wasn’t right.
Know that folks truly appreciate and get inspiration from you and your comments and wit.
Most importantly, it is in the most extreme circumstances that you can fully unite yourselves with Christ through your sufferings as He suffered for you a couple of millennia ago.
As Paul said in Colossians 1:24 ‘I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body...’
We are gonna miss you man, you will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers.

For the Greater Glory of God
It is all in His Hands now. All I can do is give myself fully to Him, and let Him run the show (since He was anyway).
I will miss all of you a lot, but I may fight this thing for a year or two before it finally takes me. That’s my goal. I’m a fighter. ;)

Never give up the fight!
Praying for you and your medical team. Miracles happen.
The important thing is your eternity is settled. After that it is all window dressing, but I hope you can stay with us here for a long time to come.
The Freeper section in heaven is going to be a great place to hang out - and we will all get to use our real names!
Freeper lounge in heaven - I am so down with that.

Johnny, I saw this on Fox tonight. Might be worth a look?
Can you add me to your ‘update’ list... Thanks.
Ha. I showed 'em. I lived through all of it. Here it is 2 months after the 2 brain surgeries. No more hospitals in patient, unless it's very easy and I get out fast.
I have completed 15 each radiation treatment appointment. No lates, no misses, and I stayed at home where I could gain weight. Some said I couldn't make those appointments. Har. I managed. It sucked.
The modern mask they used on me during radiation treatment. Modern treatment is much better than the old stuff. They used the x on each side to aim the radiation.
Thanks to everyone for the prayers. I credit those a LOT.
Next comes the chemotherapy. It won't be as fast, or as easy, but it isn't every day either.
Again, thanks to all for the prayers.
I may be here longer than everyone (including me) expects. It's in God's Hands. Not mine.
/johnny
Hang in there friend. You’re one bad dude.

Continued prayers.
