It might work but I don’t know if the mileage advantages will be enough to justify the cost.

Another poster mentioned that he’d seen this a couple years ago. might be the carbon buildup that has prevented this tech from going to prime time.

Of course, more efficient combustion of fuel leads to less carbon buildup.

By burning hydrogen instead of gasoline you solve many of the problems mentioned:
  1. No carbon fouling.
  2. Faster ignition and burning.
  3. More complete burning.

Carbon buildup is a result of unburned fuel. Burn more efficiently, have less carbon buildup.

I would suspect that the laser cleans itself by burning off the carbon deposits. Otherwise we have a real problem.

This was my first thought.Carbon buildup on the laser lens.
