Family annual passes for national park admission usually cost $80, but under Obama's plan, roughly 4 million 9- and 10-year-olds and their families won't have to pay for access to federal lands and waters. The White House will help parents plan trips to nearby parks and provide educational tools like field trip guides and science labs, according to a news release. Low-income schools can apply for transportation grants through Every Kid in a Park, as well.
Obama will debut the initiative Thursday when he announces three new national monuments: the Pullman Historic District in Chicago, Browns Canyon in Colorado, and a former Honouliuli internment campsite in Hawaii. Obama has previously created 13 national monuments to protect historically important areas.
"What we want to ensure, and what the president has focused on, is that all Americans, and the great diversity of Americans, both have the opportunity to access these important places and can experience them," presidential counselor John D. Podesta told the Washington Post in October.

“Get out of my park”
And our price will go up to $150, to pay for this.
The Government still trying to play God and grant freedoms.
Those parks are usually completely filled during summer time. All it’s going to do is misplace others who were planning to go there.
I think that citizens of a certain age can get $10 Lifetime passes or something along that line, IIRC.
Great...now our parks will look like Detroit.
I fully expect to see signs Republicans and men, keep out.
my kids will be 7 and 11... missed out again
Hence...the wallet had to open up.
Yep - at age 62.....wifey and I had both just turned 52 a couple of weeks before a road trip and decided to stop in Arizona at the Saguaro National Park — we bought the 10 dollar lifetime pass, which was actually less than what the one visit would have cost us.
Why only 9 and 10 year olds? Sounds like age discrimination to me.
Reparation for the park and memorial closings that he punished USS with after his sequester pout. Not... Just more free stuff to distract the simple minded.
What WILL he think of next to spend money the country doesn’t have?? I am on the edge of my seat....../s
“And our price will go up to $150, to pay for this.”
The guides and labs will be green propaganda, too.
Gangsta rap echoing in the Yosemite, mutha f*cka..!
Oh, joy.....

I think it is age 60, $20 per rest of life.
I am worried about these inner city folks getting out there with inadequate gear and no maps. There will no doubt be lots of Search and Rescue expense. We already incur a lot of them in the Washington state national parks with teenagers wearing flip-flops and spraining ankles and folks getting lost and needing rescues.
Why are we paying for park admission? We have already paid for the parks with our tax dollars. Smacks of double taxation to me.
